I can make logos for you guys, but you need to let me know what you want and if you have a specific image to use. Colors, or just use current team colors? What you want it to looks like in general. etc.

The player is John M. Ward from an 1887 New York Giants baseball card. I really like that art style. I might try to do a few more of those from different cards if I can figure out how to do the text I want for them. Or better yet, find it like I did for that one

I looked at pandas and I think it's going to be real tough to beat the original. I have to say I'm ecstatic with the work Rock did for my logo. I gave him a couple of pics and he did the rest. And he was very responsive to my ideas hey tweaks. I'm like Rock, I'm committed to my team being the Tigers but there are some really great possibilities for team name changes. I was thinking about sticking with the bengals, but I've always wanted a team called the Phoenix, but I wasn't crazy about the logo that came with it one here. I decided to switch once I saw we could use our own. I am curious about what y'all think of it, it's not the cleanest by any stretch, but I think it is powerful. Is there any way I could improve it? @endruj I like you logo too! Edit: all the logos I've seen so far look amazing. There hasn't really been a bad one yet. Your team name gets lost in all the busyness. There is alot of good clipart for different types of Phoenix logos. Nothing wrong with trying things until you're satisfied. I really like endru's logo but the team name or city or both would really finish that one. There are so many different concepts that there 8snt one style to suggest. And the joke here is that the team is named after Dwight Schrute's favorite animal - the bear. I have a very super specific idea, but if you aren't willing to put in the work, it's totally cool. It would be cool to keep with the black pinstripes in some way - I have this photo of Dwight that I think would be funny to included partially faded in the background. If you wanted to go above and beyond, it would be funny to see him in a black pinstriped baseball uniform (or at least a black baseball hat with an "S" on it) This bear could dominate most of the logo, with a cool font saying "SCRANTON BEARS" in black, white, grey, etc. under/above it. It wouldn't help that I would be a perfectionist with this kind of thing. Keep up the good work! @Rock: I would like to request your assistance in giving my logo a new and personalized look. The one I have right now is really just a placeholder. It's just some random knight logo that happened to match my colors and the first initial of my city. It looks decent, but it isn't original. I don't have the time to look for a specific image now; I can do that later and post it here. However, if you want to seek out your own image to create the logo, then by all means go for it! I have no font preference whatsoever, although something similar to the one in your own logo might look cool (I'll let you be the judge on that). I really appreciate your willingness to create these logos; hopefully it isn't too difficult to run a top tier team at the same time Thanks!

When I first picked out the one I have, I thought it was great. But when I started seeing all of the personalized ones out there, mine just didn't feel the same. Sure, it represents my team and its colors, and it isn't the default logo, but copping some logo off a google image search (I think this was for some high school somewhere) just doesn't feel like its doing the job anymore. That N doesn't even stand for my team's name (not that anyone knows or cares, but still). As for ideas, I know that I will want my full team name on there. Obviously a knight will have to be involved, but I haven't had the opportunity to look for any possible candidates for the logo. If you want to look at anything that could look good, go ahead. Otherwise I'll send you some more specific ideas later. To recap, I'm not exactly disappointed with my current logo, but I think the team deserves something a little better. Plus, my fans have been talking about this amazing logo designer out of Haverhill, so I thought I'd give it a try. Maybe it will inspire the team to quit playing .500 ball. (Yes, we're in a good position, but I want more. Cleveland fans never have enough security with how far in 1st they are )

Change the letter in the shield, change colors, change contrast, add text, modify coloring, add additional elements to the logo, etc. Maybe you want to be the "Black Knights", or the "Green Swordsmen", or the "Crimson Crusaders" or something? It was probably my favorite logo of all, so I was surprised no one else took up the name for many years. Now there are even more Snakes in my league, although they have an altered version. Is that why they don't show up on the team search function?? Any way, since I'm no longer the only Snakes I've considered changing names again, but I'm waiting for my team to inspire me. If I did it now, they'd be the Suckwads. I doubt that would get approved, so I'll wait. If I hadn't moved out of Mukilteo in real life, I'd probably switch to the Muckdogs. It's still the best one I've seen either way. Lancers was a nickname I've always liked, and I like alliteration so I picked a city from the list that I liked best with that. There are a few places in the US named Dundee, my hometown here in Scotland, and Dundee Dodgers (my MLB team) would be an obvious choice if I wanted to go that route. But I like what I have. The Dodgers and Sluggers logos on Broken Bat are very good as they are.

Not a baseball bat as I first envisioned, but an animal bat as Rock put in there. A serendipitous miscommunication to be sure. Once I took it all in, it dawned on me that Ozzy Osbourne's famous incident of biting the head off a bat during a concert occurred in Des Moines, Iowa. As a lifelong Iowan, I liked that connection. Also, you will note you only see bat wings extending from Ozzy's fist, no head. Hmmm, I wonder where that blood came from? I was worried Steve would think it was too much but there it is. I also like the idea of sending the message that if you're going to play Kalamazoo, be prepared for a fight. I want my opponents to feel if they beat me that they earned it. Muddy and bloody in Kalamazoo!

A combination of MSPaint and GIMP for modifications and layer work, but the most important tool is Google Image search. Most of these logos are two or three separate elements that I find through creative searching and put together with the graphics programs. A far as technical difficulty, anybody could learn how to make these. Most take less that ten minutes to make. The Doubledays, Naturals and the other ones like that require more skill. I have to delete backgrounds manually. That takes a lot of time and patience to do seamlessly. Those usually take an hour or so in total to make.

So for instance, I can select all of the green in an image and delete it all at once. As long as the background is sufficiently different than the rest of the image, that can save a lot of time.

If you can learn how do work with layers in one of these graphics programs (I imagine there are dozens of tutorials for each program on Youtube) you would pretty much have the skillset needed to make logos like the ones I've been posting lately. Photoshop would be the program to learn if you have it or feel like buying it. GIMP works fine for what I do. Whatever it can't do, I have Paint.Net and MSPaint to fill in the gaps. I collect them as I find them and use them when I find another element or two that I think goes with it. Sometimes the provenance of the image gets lost along the way. That one happened to still have the name of the high school on it, so I could tell where it came from. Some of these have been kicking around various hard drives and USB drives for years.

Let's see... #3 from the top is my previous Lancers logo, pretty much. #6 I've liked for a while but maybe in blue armor and red instead of the orange would be cool, but I'm really not sure about the lettering. #5,8 and 9 are all good. #10 I know is the British Queen's Lancers, know my military stuff but don't want a skull logo. I like the Longwood logo and various motifs, checked all of them, but not quite a fit. I think my favourite is #11. Could you do it with 'Lombard Lancers' across the image? Kalamazoo's Bloody Tigers logo is still my favourite, and writing similar to that would be awesome.

amalric7 Joined: 01/20/2016 Posts: 2259 New York Lancers IV.2	Being an inveterate tinkerer I have a habit during the offseason of checking the available city locations (and the minor league ones too, hence I now have a team playing at the North Pole). To my surprise I found New York available last night, but thinking it might have been a request by someone else I left it alone for a couple of hours. When it was still there after all that time I jumped on it and submitted a new logo, which Steve approved - so I guess it was just a random event. As a long-time (since 1984) fan of the New York Football Giants I couldn't pass it up, plus NY is one of the handful of places I've visited in the USA (had planned to go later this year but had to put it off, love that place). New city, new logo thrown together in two minutes, but I like it.

Haven't heard anything from Steve to tell me why it's not gonna fly so I'm wondering if I'm just experiencing technological difficulties. I really wanted an ASCII logo but couldn't make it look like much but light grey lines at 200x200. Went with the next best thing... good ol' Paint.

Here is my question to the forum – a number of people have submitted custom logos that I would characterize as “less than professional” looking. I'm not 100% against them...I’m just wondering if with so many people willing to design “very professional” looking custom logos, should we limit logos to that condition or quality? Steve - It's just a matter of taste, I guess. Like with art... some people like Romanticism, some like Realism, some like Impressionism, some like Dada... I've always liked the kind of "art" commonly produced by people on the internet. The intentionally amateurish MSPaint stuff, the ASCII art... it makes me smile. I guess I could fire up gimp or krita or blender or something and make a nice, neat logo... but it wouldn't suit my taste (or lack of) nearly as well. Thanks for thinking about it.

I think if you set a bar, folks may be shy about putting in logos because "professional" isn't well defined. Plus it is a taste thing for the manager. If they like the logo, I think they should be able to submit it. Also, I think its better if people put their own flare into their logo. That's why I always recommend folks keep their own logos if they have already made something that looks nice. Besides, Herp Derp's logo is right on par with half the "professional" cartoons played during Adult Swim P.S. Herp Derp, if you wanted help with your ASCII idea, I could probably help you to get it looking right at 200x200.

I understand wanting to maintain a certain aesthetic to the site, but Herp Derp's take is just a different style that doesn't necessarily interfere with how he plays the game. (As has been mentioned, ASCII art is a thing.) As for "offensive," you're the boss and really have more justification in that realm. Yeah, if it's out there, someone may be offended by it, but that's seemingly getting old quick. I'd rather you the judge of offensive than judge of what is professional art.

I have played a few other online games and some of the thing I'd like to avoid is random photos or even photos that are related to the team. I think it should be a logo -- at least in style. The other thing, is pictures of pop stars (seems like their was a phase were everyone in Hattrick had a Shakira logo), pictures of their kids (my kids are cute too, but they aren't really a baseball logo), random images unrelated to baseball. Maybe I need to clarify the rules a bit. Steve

Some of the simple ones, like HerpDerp's above or - one of the earliest and best - Mcdoogle's Roadrunners logo are pretty darned good. I actually prefer some of the more 'professional' looking ones (and have had four myself), but to each their own.

Seriously, compare the interface with other sims. Most others are cluttered with ads, trashy team logos, and bad language. Here the interface is open, direct, and cleaned up, and the community understands how to behave in forums, which in turn creates a great culture. It makes for a great experience.

It's not going to affect the gameplay, it's not going to cause a bunch of ads to suddenly pop up, and it's not going to make people start using a ton of profanity. It's not even going to clutter the site. It's going to be contained in the same size box as the logos you like looking at. There's also a professional site view in profile settings. No logos at all. And I really don't see how the default pirate with a disproportionate body wielding a sword and a pistol has anything to do with baseball... or how it looks more like a logo than any other random image. Before that, I had to look at a grinning gorilla swinging from a vine and holding a banana. At least the thing I submitted was wearing a glove. Way more related to baseball. Would it look more like a logo if I added text to remind people of the team's name (even though they can see it just a few pixels away)? Or maybe if I put a circle around it or something? Or do some just want to limit the range of acceptable styles according to a subjective notion of professionalism or their own personal taste in logos? This is an awful lot of talk about "professional looking" logos for a baseball sim site with a clip art logo. Let's not take ourselves too seriously, eh? There is a difference between whimsical and feeble. Also, there are occasionally some that aren't logos, so I’ll push the feeble and non-logos to request help. We’ll allow the whimsical. In terms of offensive – we really haven’t had too may submission rejected for that reason. We have to remember, there are a fair number of kids playing the game as well. So I have a pretty good gauge on what I’d want my kids exposed to…so I use my judgement on that. So I wonder -- do people consider Chief Wahoo offensive? I'd prefer a more uniform look to logos, but that's not how creativity tends to work. Eye of the beholder and all that. I would like to see (maybe in the finest baseball tradition, an unwritten one) some sort of rule that a custom logo requires a unique team name. For me, redundant team names impact the realism of the game more than a less polished logo does.

At least we'll get acquainted to our league's logos. More ideas: - a Best Logo beauty pageant Either on the Forum, or possibly on a speficif section of the site )if Gamemaster agrees) - a Newest Logos section, either in News or in Forum, where latest logos are shown. That's the reason why many people enjoy minor league baseball. It's more laid back, family-friendly. That's why you have teams like the Yard Goats, the Rumble Ponies, the RailRiders, and the AquaSox. The minor league team names are meant to appeal to local families and the MLB (generic) names are meant to be professional.

I like the overall look, but I don't know that I care for the font. I know matching it isn't really doable, but the simple and blocky font isn't agreeing with the weird serif thing the logo does, ar least to me. Have you got anything heavy with minimal serifs to work with in your arsenal? (I know, I'm picky. Sorry… <.< >.> <.<; ). As for text color, maybe match it to the yellow on the team's uniform, if you could, please?

Here are the 7 teams that need logos, and what needs to be in the logos. 1. I have a team called the Toronto Scarlets. Can someone make it with color #cc0000 (204,0,0)? Also, make it similar to the logo for the Chelsea soccer team. Additionally, I want it to have a red maple leaf in the center. And just white as the secondary color (text color). 2. A second team I have is the London Lions. Not 100% sure what I want, but I want it to look like a soccer crest (and include some sort of lion). Other than white and/or black, I want colors #d8073c (216,7,60), #0c4687 (12,70,135), #7a253a (122,37,58), and #296ea9 (41,110,169). 3. This logo but better looking and no background. 4. The next team is the New York Bulls. Kinda like the Buffalo Bulls logo. Use white and color #6998c9 (105,152,201). 5. I have a team called the Los Angeles Stars. I have no ideas whatsoever for this one. Just make it look good. 6. Another team is the Cape Town Rhinos. Not sure, design-wise, but color-wise I want the colors of the South African flag. Use black, white, and colors #009f34 (0,159,52), #0070c0 (0,112,192), #cf0000 (207,0,0), and #c4b800 (196,184,0). 7. Final team: the Atlanta Firebirds. Again, not sure design-wise, but color-wise, I have ideas. Colors should be black, white, and colors #b11313 (177,19,19), #cfc700 (207,199,0), and #cf6b11 (207,107,17). But if possible could you incorporate Hollywood into the logo, and if you really had some time on your hands, modeled after the Hollywood sign? Also I’d like there to be an S at the end of Raptor. I pretty much just borrowed this picture off the internet since it looked cool (the normal raptor logo stinks). Thanks

I did offer to do one for Seca, but he did his own. Lots of lost chances there, LOL. Only four teams in legends right now using one of my logos: Tombstone, Haverhill, Scranton, and Prattville.
