Wow ... very appropriate icon for the OP.

Anyone from IV.3 checking the forums?

<shakes fist at New Bedford>

A few season ago I would have suggested an I-195 battle for the city ... but you're not here and I've grown to like the bay view at Brayton Point.

Anyone here have rookies to keep an eye on?

At the risk of making people start their defensive catchers. My next outfield is almost ready ...

"Barefoot" Cary Jernigan and Steve "Flyin Hawiian" Iwakuma are running up on ya

Steve was born in Missouri but as a military brat he considers Hickam AFB home.
It was actually Kaniela "Kahuna" Keahi that gave Steve his nickname when they were coming up in the minors together.
Unfortunately back in 2034, when Kahuna was recommended for the Majors at 20(!), the 25 year-old Jesse Galvin was in the middle of an MVP season at DH.
With no Majors spot beyond pinch running in the visible future for Kahuna (and not wanting to stunt his growth), the Dawgs sadly let him go during the off-season with best wishes that he would become some young team's all-time DH ...

You can be sure that between waves this winter those 2 will be talking about how things could have turned out differently if one of the other 4 teams to place a claim had the Kahuna the last 4 years

How many folks in the league are in on Adam "There are some that call me Tim" Horton ?

After my waiver luck on Devon "Hey Mon" Preston feel free to complain about my luck.

...

On the other hand, Horton was in junior high when "Moose" Baker was closing out games for some of Team Canada's best World Classic runs.

And his passport will show that he was on the party bus for the playoff games when Fall River was Team Canada South with Moose, "Graham" Chapman (Was that why he started watching Monty Python?) and "Shadow" Knight

Moving into interleague play, the Moo Cows and the lyin' cheatin' Beach Palms are in first. The Cows have flirted with first place each of the last two seasons, but this is the first time Murfreesboro has held on to a League IV lead for any length of time. Let's see if things get shaken up over the next few weeks.

How about this heartbreaker for Milpitas star Cliff "Heartbreak" Keegan? He was through eight and a third beautiful shutout innings. I think there were just two hits against him. But let down at the last moment by his own fielding error. This ball was put into play by a true journeyman of a hitter, finally having the time of his life. Baseball, doing what baseball does.

Be careful what you wish for.

I've been wishing that the East would be decided soon to help me decide whether to go young or go for the win ... (and then) ... six game losing streak.

Think I'll hold off for a few more series ... but ... "Zefram" Cochran got his majors rec at 21 (and then)
Mauricio Robledo has to be close (and then)
"Sweet Lou" DeJesús could use more playing time
...

On the other hand, there are the old guys -
"Mario" Vitali has yet to make an error - he may steal the city's love from Emeril (BAM!)
He'll be getting paid at least until next season's world classic selection and/or his next gold glove.
"Boom Boom" Canepa was the only Dawg to carry his weight in Legends
and then there is Gabe
... life would be easier if I knew I could log into promote someone for every injury, but it's tax season.

Never, ever talk about a streak.

At the end of inter-league play this season, the West trounced the East at a rate of something like .530. Backwards from last year, where I think the East beat up on the West.

Today, the Ashland Owls play in the Semifinals of the Cup against some giants. Let's take a moment to say GO OWLS! Also, notice that every remaining Cup team is up the chain from us. Ashland's in our league. The Carp and Birmingham are straight up from us in II.1. Obviously Alexandria counts in Legends. Maybe we have a particularly tough road to get up from here?

Makes me feel a bit better.

Olivera and Hershberger were nice late season pickups to close out the East.

Might be tough to get Jarrod "Not Dave, and hell no not that guy from Subway" Mathews to the same level ... but we'll try to play catchup

Latest Murfreesboro Press Release:

The Moo Cows will idle into promotion with three straight losses on home turf. Exuberant fans still swarmed the field. "Doin' it ugly still gets it done," said team stalwart Darryl Malloy, who's assisted three Murfreesboro promotions in five tries under current management. "Guys like Quiroz, Dee Gonzalez, Bonilla, holy cow, we're seeing some moo-town magic here. It's like a dream." In the clubhouse, Joel Powell dumped cheap champagne on Arr Gonzalez while shouting quotes to local media, "I know it's not the good stuff, but it sure feels like the good stuff."

We salute Louisville for chasing us with those powerful, mighty home run bats.

We're about to lose a playoff series to those frustrating Rebels, but I don't even care.

Hoping to skip the downward facing dog pose.
Only have 2 guys on the roster that have been with the franchise since the last trip to LL5.

Entering the final series without our all-star shortstop Art "The Heir" Reeve ... luckily we held onto Preston Renner and don't have to rely on "Old Weird" Harold Nielson bringing his glove.

In am odd name match with the infielder ...
It's probably coming down to Devon "Hey Mon" Preston or Vince "Diesel" Renner

PS. If you're a fan - bring something to sign.
The first day crew will be making the road trip to salute "Boom Boom" Canepa.

"Downtown" Robert Gregory, "Shadow" Knight, Chad Bartlett, and
Cliff Riley are on the :partybus

If you're the betting type, I'd put my money on the Rebels to win the 2039 Playoff. The Moo Cows have had 9 different series against the Rebels since 2036. We've won none of those. Zero. In fact, the Cows are a dismal 13-31 (.295) facing Rohnert Park. How is that possible?!? Hey Commish - check fer cheatin'! They's stealin' our signs!

Time to revive another old league thread.

Tombstone has made it to the IVY leagues for the 2nd time in history (31 seasons in VI, 15 in V and 1 season of IV where we finished 5th and demoted).

The team was taken over two seasons ago and has promoted two times straight.
We arrive in IVY as the BB #247 ranked overall team and have been ranked dead last in our division.

Team report for the 2048 season will follow shortly. Good luck and a big hello to anyone else in the division.

I'm intrigued but not overly optimistic on my team this season. Came very close to a complete collapse last season and have struck out on every single waiver request I've had. My pitching should be solid but the offense is a big question mark

Welcome to the chat El jefe!

We are dead last ranked in the division and we haven't really made any changes so I have no idea how we will do.
Glendale looks strong with a solid veteran manager in Pig Cola.
We get to renew hostilities with the admin team.
I feel like we have played jetsrock/Davenport before..but not sure. (edit: we did in 2029!!)

I like our cup group, really good chance to advance.

Good first round pick in the draft..

Now to find 1-2 key waivers (read one good RHP starter) and we will be all set.

Stay tuned for new team name and logo...coming soon!

Good luck guys.

We're currently sitting in last place at the All-Star break, which is incredibly disappointing since this team seemed to have the talent to promote this season after finishing second last season.

We're in a weird spot as well. The Marshals have some expensive vets currently doing well, but I signed them to try and gain ground on first place, which isn't happening right now, but we have a chance to escape the relegation zone.

Let's hope the second half of the season goes better.

Quite the 3-way battle in the East. We've been going back and forth with each other between 1st and 3rd all season long. I feel my boys are fading a bit, but nice little 4 game win streak here to stay in it. I'm surprised Davenport isn't running away with this more

We were feeling good until Solano went 18-2 in their last 20 and eliminated us..lol

Still a little too close to relegation for comfort though so we will have to keep grinding.

I don't think the Marshals will be that much of a challenge when it comes to fighting off relegation. The team has struggled in inter divisional play this season. I don't see Fresno as a threat either to fight to get out of the relegation zone.

#6 ranked in the west (ranked down 1 spot from last year)
Last season: 4th, 84-76

Player acquisition has proven to be a slow process.
Currently have only 39 players under contract and we are actively trying to upgrade/replace 2B,3B,1B and C as we don't have a true starter at any of these positions.
We have a few young guys playing quite well in the outfield and a super star DH so all is not yet lost.
One good waiver could be a difference maker for us.

Our pitching is also showing some bright spots with many playable young guys that still have room for improvement. Again we will badly need to find a starter in the off season as last years Ace and innings eater has been cut due to age and salary.

Our minors have been slowly improving but we are still 2-3 seasons away from seeing any meaningful help. Adding 2-3 good prospects this season would be
a huge help and will be our number one goal.

It's all about waivers for us this season and judging from what we have seen available so far, we may be digging deep.
For now at least, being very competitive and relegating are both still on the table.

Hoping the fellas stay competitive and don't totally cave as they did end of last season. I am concerned about my offense but a few guys are due for bounce-back years.

I have a ton of guys ready for promotion but a lot of them are huge question marks (e.g., low SI and big attributes, but have put up good stats in their career). The offense in particular will have some opportunity to bring some guys along slowly

Some good races still going on up and down the standings. West Jordan and Bowie staying in the conversation with recent runs, with Edmond and Bellington having plenty of opportunities to close the 5 and 6 game gap in the loss column, respectively.

The relegation races too are quite competitive with only Shreveport in really tough shape.

Good luck to all for these last 17 games

If you think it can't get from bad to worse... after Murillo and Berg got bombed away with long term injuries ending their seasons weeks before the end, now Lee, another SP went down.
Our youth had to fill in. Future superstar Pagliarulo showed his potential, while the call up came just too early for Robin Daniel.

This is when our hope and dreams are still alive before reality bites lol.

My main hope is that Salazar becomes a 16+ winner this year and the youngster I’m throwing in as my new closer proves my gut feeling - big shoes to feel with Rocha being retired into my Hall of Fame

Apologies to the league for my rookie closer blowing the /“”-star game this year.

In his defence the Manager put him in very early so he had too many pitches.

He is strictly on 9th inning entrance and 35 pitch count.

I do love this game!

Last season found a young pitcher to bridge the gap between my old workhorses and my kids. He missed the entire 2056 season and his first series... 35 game injury...1 of 2 35 game injuries in 2057 for him. Steve I think has factored in conditioning. This season an 8 game, now 4 game for his 2058 start...

But he isn't alone since 3 of my 5 starters went down....currently 16, 14, and 4 days.

Whats a s3ason without challenges?

Good luck all in 2058.

Nantucket at negative 75 run differential this early, what is going on over there out East?

Denvy is last with a waiver wire heavy veteran pitching staff. I don't know all of their names yet.

24-8 record since the beginning of August. We moved all three of our outfielders (same players, new positions) in our "VS RHP" lineup, and it seems to have sparked this run. We have been in last place for most of the year.

So, first round gone throug, we are unexpectedly in 1st place, but with the exception of Bellington which had an horrible start, we are all clamped between 1 games and half so it's too early to set the trend.

We have been carried mainly by our SP, lineup is doing in line with the expections (even if some guys are overperforming, some other are underperforming, but i think it's too early to evaluate, we need at least another week before making adjustments). Bullpen is meh, numbers are good but we are giving up a lot of runs (earned by starters).

Bad news is Davila is gone for more than a month, he'll miss at least 5 starts (plus cup ones), good news is this friday we have promoted Cruz, let's hope he adjust to the league in no time.

So, after first 50 games we are more or less where we hoped, middle of the pack. in our division seems like a race between temple and Tyler for the promotion, and we'll fight with portland an williston to not relegate. i think Bennington is doomed unless they go 40-20 on the interleague or something.

We are currently carried by our rotation, if we had a somewhat decent bullpen we would have at least 2-3 more wins. Lineup is going as expected, a few guys however are underperfoming (Kim and Carr in particular, also Cruz but he's a rookie i can give him some room)

I've made some slight corrections (sacked our closer and a middle reliever who didn't reach his potential and claimed a slight expensive starter), we'll see how it goes. I got a interesting reliever ready for the majors ( Bermudez) but he's a bit behind in SI, so i would like too keep him in AAA for the remainder of the season, we'll see

West win the all star game!
We got 3 guys selected, our star Catcher Winslow as usual, first timer Banning at 3B and SP Del Toro, who didn't play, as he's out 18 days and will miss the next 3 start sigh.

Goal is always the same, to not relegate, we'll fight mainly against Williston and Portland (Tyler is more suited to purse Temple for the title).

Let's hope that our bullpen (great weakness this year) step up a little, and our rotation and most of the lineup mantain the form.

GL to all for 2nd half!

The interleague ended, leaving us with the last 50 games.

Like in the last seasons, even in this league west crushed east, going 214-146.

I'll put the interleague records just for statistics

Temple 37-23
Tyler 34-26
Williston 38-22
Oxnard 36-24
Portland 32-28
Bellington 37-23

Abilene 32-28
Davenport 29-31
Alpharetta 27-33
Cleveland 22-38
Tupelo 20-40
Edmond 16-44

We went 5-5 against Tupelo And Cleveland, which was a bit disappointing, 4-6 against Abilene which is reasonable, then 6-4 against Davenport, and finally 8-2 vs Alpharetta and Edmond

In the west divion, Temple has got a 4 games advantage against Tyler, i think they're gonna make it becaus they have the best team. We're 6 games against Portland, they can be a lot but a bad streak can ruin everything. We'll see, starting tomorrow with the headsup.

GL to all for the remaining 50 games!!

Tyler just doesn’t have the hitting to compete for the division title. We look safe to not relegate. We’re already a young team so no kids really to call up and play the last week.

Managed to get a 2-2 on Temple last series, didn't expect to draw honestly.

Our team is playing very bad in those last rounds, we're 15-18 (7-9 and 8-9), however we are close to .500 only thanks to portland (we are 7-0 against them and 8-18 against the others), main concerns are our bullpen, and the lineup tup has been cold in the last 20 games or so.

We got 6 games over bellington, we should make it unless we go 0-4 in the heads-up.

Williston can still try to snatch the promotion from Temple, but it will be difficult. Let's see how it goes

You can still do it, but you need to absolutely sweep Bennington tomorrow though :D

As for us, we went 2-2 against Bennington so we have a good chance to remain in this league

if they go 9-0 we need to go 4-6 while mantaining RD advantage, it's definitely doable.

However, this hasn't been a good season, we (almost) managed to not relegate only because Bennington Started horribly in the first 50 games, and Portland crumbled after the all star game. We've been average all season and this has been enough.

Offseason goals
- Fix the bullpen
- Find a Starter who can replace Trejo which is retiring
- Find a Righty C who can put over .750 OPS against lefties

Excited to move up to this competitive division and promptly demote right back down! Maybe if I can get lucky on waivers this off-season and all my rookies that will finally be making their debuts next year do as well as I hope, maybe there is a chance we don’t demote. Best of luck to everyone this year!

Got 12 open spots on the roster, only 4 major leagues though. Could be an issue because a decent amount of my claims are on older guys. Gonna need some help if I want to succeed at this higher level. Want to get all the young rookies playing time but don’t know if I should. Probably going to get demoted but I really don’t know if I should put up a fight or just play the young guys and accept the demotion.

in my experience, if i want to not relegate, i try to play at max 2 rookies in the lineup and 2 pitchers.

First year is almost always hard for them, but if they are good they have to play, or they will not reach their potential.

If i were you i would wait to throw the towel, you see how the first 50 games go with the best team you can field, you can always rebuild for the next season later in the season.
Overland last year won 59 games, Cedar Rapids is a bot team, I have almost the same team of last year, so you should not think already about relegation.

I thought i got lucky with Dill , but Rever won the offseason already with Portillo and Blom. Luckily they play in the other division...

Tyler is ready to give it another go. So glad not to have Temple here again this year. My memory says they lead almost wire to wire. At least now maybe we all have a fair fighting chance to promote this season. Tyler just needs to find some hitting somewhere but so far our waiver luck has been abysmal.
Good luck to all this season.

Still 5 claims left on the board, 4 of them Hail Marys with 30+ claims. Other is Ratliff, always looking to steal a player from a division rival. He’s currently got 2 on him including me, hope I win the toss up. Haven’t done much on waivers yet but the good news is the guys I did get, http://brokenbat.org/player/342284
Theo is doing solid, hope he eventually goes up to 12, if he does he’s probably a keeper. Very happy with how Olivarez did this first series,
http://brokenbat.org/player/332525
He should definitely be a keeper, he’s a very good all around hitter.
http://brokenbat.org/player/345168
Camacho has looked great in the first 3 games, glad he’s not going to waste I wasn’t ecstatic about him being the best on my board in the third round last year. Hope he goes up to 12.

Got a lot of young guys coming up this year so I guess it’s good that I didn’t land any guys who are already ready to play majors. Excited to see how the rookies do, this year will likely be a tank to evaluate the future of this team.

We also changed very little this season.

Lineup VS LHP is the same (we went 40-22 last year so no complains), we have tweaked something against RHP.

I have not many concerns about the lineup, they should carry their weight.

Pitching is another whole story.

Last year we got a decent rotation and an horrible bullpen, this year it's basically the same, without a good starter which retired.

we got a bit lucky on waivers for hitters but nothing on pitchers, so we've got to resolve the issue internally. Promoted Goss on the rotation, hopefully he repeats his minors numbers now that he's fully developed. We got two rookies in middle relief, let's hope they don't suffer too much.

If our pitching can handle the league, we have a fairly chance to repeat last season (to not relegate with relative ease) otherwise we'll have a tough season ahead of us.

Will see.

GL to all for the season and for the first draft, i hope you guys find what you are searching for personally i'll go for infielders, biggest needs in the minors are SS and 3B.

Doing better than expected after those awful first two series. Got swept by Tyler in the opening series, then we just got revenge with a sweet 3-1 series win. Hiramatsu http://brokenbat.org/player/311073 and Jones http://brokenbat.org/player/277688 are playing like all stars right now, I love it. Kay http://brokenbat.org/player/324294 despite how bad he looks on paper, always somehow finds a way to succeed. I don’t know how he does it. Same with Barraza http://brokenbat.org/player/296753 he’s looked like an ace ever since we picked him up. Bowie http://brokenbat.org/player/325732 and Whitson http://brokenbat.org/player/325870 the rookies, have performed well this season. Also just called up Bair http://brokenbat.org/player/333189 still looking for his first hit. Reyes http://brokenbat.org/player/249950 29 away from 3000! For sure his last year. He holds most of our records. I’ve been impressed by the success of our young team. Might be able to stay another year. 4th or 5th is most likely, but wouldn’t rule out 3rd since Tyler is on a mega cold stretch. We’ll see how this pans out and good luck to everyone!

Don’t think I’ll ever win a game against you two, I might be able to steal some vs Oxnard, won 2/3 last series. As long as I take care of business vs Cedar Rapids and Overland Park I should be staying here, but Overlabd Park has been getting a bit too close for comfort…

Tyler next time we play you, you better pitch Lucas lol. We’ll light him up!

I can't wrap my head around what is going on. Great pitching performances (9 CG and only one blown save, which was still a win), solid defense and timely hitting, I guess. Started the season 7-6, 27-3 since including 19 straight home wins and counting. Other than runs scored, my offensive numbers are pretty much league average or worse. Playing in a huge ballpark keeps the HRs down so it usually takes a rally to put runs up against my team, and I've turned twice as many double plays as anyone else in the league with the fewest (tied) errors.

After First 50 games, season Is going as expected. Pretty decent hitting, pretty horrible pitching.
We got a couple of reliable starters, and a couple of reliable reliever, rest of the arms are a work in progress, and should remain like that for at least 2-3 seasons. We have no luck so far on waivers for P, but we're still trying.

Williston Is going to race alone, Tyler Is comfortable and ready for a possibile slowing, we and Hollywood Will fight to not relegate with overland park. 4 games are not a lot, let's Hope interleague goes Better.

Williston and Tyler are going to kill us every time. In 3 game series against both, we might win 1/6. I’m not worried about our head to head vs Overland Park, we’ve consistently beat them, but they somehow stay close. Inter league should be tough, hope we can end it with a .500 record. Pitching has been incredible lately, had to switch to a 4 man because I couldn’t find a fifth reliable starter but the 4 have been electric on the mound thus far. Bullpens holding on, but by a thread. http://brokenbat.org/player/249950
Reyes gets 3000 hits! 8 dingers away from 400, I think he should get to it with the way he’s been taking lately. Honestly, he might be good enough not to retire next season, but he’s like 50 at this point, when he dips below 100 SI this offseason I’ll have to let him go.

We’re blowing it all up. Seriously, how the hell do we get swept by Nantucket? It’s either our pitching sucks and our offense sucks or our pitchers throw a gem and we still lose! It’s crazy how many 1-0 wins we are getting because our offense left their bats in Mansfield! (Our old franchise location) We better step it up if we want to stay in this damn division. Our 2 only consistent players are 37 and 35! We have been making some much needed lineup changes lately, so hopefully they’ll do something.

With the hideous 1-4 against Cleveland, we end the First half 2 games under.500, we went 24-26 in interleague and 15-15 in interleague.

Very blando season, pitching Is very mediocre id not bad. hitting Is somehow decent, but going cold.

The only good thing Is that we have gained One game to avoid relegation, we are 5 games ahead now. Not bad, but still it's not a comfortable Number.

For the first time since i play with this team (2060 season) the East wins the interleague against the West by a little margin, 177-183

Here's the results for every single team

Williston 32-28
Tyler 30-30
Oxnard 30-30
Cedar Rapids 35-25
Overland Park 27-33
Hollywood 23-37

Davenport 33-27
Nantucket 31-29
Waterville 34-26
Cleveland 32-28
Revere 28-32
Alpharetta 25-35

As for Oxnard, we went .500 like the rest of the season. Starting pitching has performed a little better, youngsters in long and middle relief still suck (as expected), our veterans setup and closer are playing very well.

Lineup is balancing the rotating becoming a little cold in the last weeks.

We are the definition of a .500 team, this is one of the most boring season i can remember, the only reedemings things are the fact that we are 7 games above relegation, only a major collapse combined with a resurgence of 2 teams would makes us relegate, and the fact that our young pitchers should be better next year.

Full roster dump. Playing the rookies now. I contribute a lot of it to bad luck, but I was never going to succeed here, so I think it’s good to just get the young guys some time to develop, and hope to be back here in a few years. Besides, with the way we’re playing right now the rookies will probably do better!

I made some movements too, we are 13 games above relegation with 32 games still to play, seems like a comfortable number.
Promoted meza in the rotation to make 5-6 starts, id he performs decent i could left him for the next year, and put a couple of young bats in the line up against RHP to make some training.

We have pretty much the same team of last year, and the goal is the same, to not being relegated. Decent lineup and defence, questionable rotation (couple of solid guys, then fillers) and bullpen (i expect some slight improvements from long/middle relief, since they gained a lot of Si last year while postin 5+ ERA)

let's see how it goes, beginning with the first round draft of tomorrow.

Nightmare season for Oxnard so far.

Team is almost the same of last year, we changed one guy in the lineup against lefties and a starter (who had 5 era) so i expected more of less the same performance of last year, team is fairly young so no drop due to age expected.

Instead hitting is way worse and pitching has been absymal.

There are 2 bot teams in my division and we are only 4 games behind 4th place, so it's still early to throw the towel, i'll wait another couple of weeks.

So, first half of interleague went way better than expected, we recovered a few games and now we're 2 games out of relegation.

Lineup has made some progress, we have some black holes but we have a solid production, can't complain too much.

On the other side, i can't comprehend why our pitching is so bad.

Apart from our ace and a couple of accomplished relievers, the other are all struggling, especially with hits allowed. They have a Huge .ba against.

Pitching is basically the same of last year, but we went from a 4.49 ERA to a 5.27 ERA, with same FIP.

Ballpark is the same of last year, so i literally have no idea.

However, we'll figure it out in the offseason. In the meantime, let's hope to save for relegation.

Congratulations to Portland and Joliet for clinching their respective divisions, well deserved and GL for the playoff!

Had to admit, after the first 50 games i thought nobody could steal the 1st position to Tyler, i was very wrong.

As for Oxnard, we got saved from relegation only by sudden collapse of Overland Park.

Honestly we did not deserve to remain in league IV. Our above average hitting is overshadowed by my absymal rotation, bullpen instead ended strong so i got some hope. IF they perform the same next year, i think we'll go down without putting too much of a fight.

Problem is, i got a couple of guys that next year will promote to majors and end up in the rotation, but for the moment we got to stick to what we got.

We'll try to find a decent starter (or 2) in free agency, will see.

See ya in 2066!

Welcome to the league SanKaloon, GL to you and all other guys for 2067 season! Well the bats never really came through this season for our team, but our defense was good enough that we get to stay another year - which I'm happy about.

I don't expect a lot of changes for next season, but hoping we can improve our offense at 1B and the OF, and maybe find some additional LHP in the offseason. We could use a good young catcher as well, but we've got one in the minors that may be good in the next few years.

Congrats to Nantucket and Independence for moving on to the next level!!
