Personally, I would keep him, most likely for a MR role. He's a groundball specialist, so if you don't have excellent middle infielders, he'll be less effective.

I'd keep him for sure. One of the things I consider a hidden variable is age - young guys sometimes struggle despite their 'gifts', and Molina has a good HR ratio. He'd probably garner 50+ claims on waivers.

Always depends on your other options ;) But I would probably keep him.

My team specializes in guys like this, and I would say he is performing at about the level I would expect. High Movement, low Velocity guys tend to give up a lot of hits. But if they can keep the HRs down, they are usually effective. 1.535 WHIP isn't great, but would be far above the worst pitching on my team this year. Usually 1.600+ is where I start to get an itchy finger. 1.500- is optimal, but 1.550- for a guy who might still improve a little isn't really too bad.

I know I'm not the norm, but if he were on my team he would be the SP2 or SP3. Probably more a condemnation of my current rotation... Is it bad that I would be happy with a 4.41 ERA?

To me, he was pretty solid 2062-2064, so I would give him a bit more rope before deciding that 2065 is the real Martin Molina.

Just don't ever expect the ERA to be lower than the FIP on a guy with that kind of profile. A sub 10 Velocity is going to result in lots of hits.

I'm new and haven't made it out of LL5 yet :), so not a vet, but to me he's a keeper - according to my calculations, he's had a positive pWAR every year in the majors and minors (although 2065 is not great, but still positive). He has a good kwERA and as stated above, his HR/IP ratio is good.

re: Molina

you have him as a starter despite no scouting comment on stamina, which is only 12 skill

try using him in relief

Keeper. IMHO I'd also try him out in relief.

I'd keep him and move him to either RHP or closer

Closer is the LAST place I would play this guy. I'd be fine starting him. Relief is fine, but definitely not a Closer.

Closer.

If you're sure, raise hand ;)
