Nov 01 2048: 2048 Season - by Mudcat325 on January 27th, 2021
Congratulations to Manager Tony Dominquez and his team for winning the 2048 V.1 league title. This is Tony's first championship title in only his 3rd full season as manager. At a mere 49 years young we would anticipate many more great moments with the Columbia Catfish before he's done especially with a relatively young core of excellent players.
We would also like to thank all our tremendous fans and supporters for making this a very special season. We would love to see you all join us for a Columbia Catfish victory parade scheduled this Friday, January 28th beginning at 1:00 PM, starting at Finley Park, 930 Laurel Street.
Jul 14 2045: New Manager - by Mudcat325 on May 12th, 2020
(Columbia) Today we are pleased to announce the hiring of Tony Dominquez as new manager of the team. Tony will replace Vince Hart who compiled a 942-738 (.561) record and two championship titles during his 10 and a half seasons as skipper of the Catfish. We are grateful for his service to the organization as he has helped to fulfill our goal of bringing a winning culture to the fans of the Columbia Catfish baseball community. His dedication and consummate professionalism will always be remembered.
This change in leadership is one that we believe will continue to further our commitment to this winning tradition that we have begun. We believe that Tony Dominquez will help this team reach the next level in development that will be required to achieve the success we desire as an organization. We look forward to working closely with Tony to give him the best resources possible to reach the goals we have set for the future of this organization. We know you will warmly welcome Tony to this great community as you have for us.
Jun 17 2039: Olé to El Matador - by Mudcat325 on January 30th, 2019
A perfect game is a complete game pitched without a runner reaching base either by hit, base-on-balls, or error. It is one of the rarest feats in baseball and a subset of no-hitters. Today Arturo "El Matador" Quinones achieved the perfect game by out-dueling Sung Min Moon and the La Mirada Titans 5-0. Arturo needed only 91 pitches to complete the task. The organization would like to recognize The Matador for this prestigious feat. Congratulations Arturo!
