Had to go with the pitcher, since that is always what I am looking for, trying to develop. https://brokenbat.org/player/295655 Nice homer numbers. Low SI at birth makes me think he's really a 14, which is fine with me if he develops well |

Had 2 12's, and then a load of 10's and 9's, so really not a lot to write home about. Picked a 12 POT lefty who might be able to do some as a reliever or closer at some point, but that was a dud board. I guess it was coming after a couple of very promising draft classes for me, though. |

Hopefully the scouting report hints at him bumping to a 14 potential. Still hoping for the day I can land a 16 super stud though. Haven't been blessed with one of those yet in the drafts. |

Nice homers and 25% QS is a lot better than you'd expect for a guy who just reached stam 7. @Jerbeetwo: nice pick That is my first board since 2051 to have a 15 on it, so I enjoy it when it happens lol. tamale Joined: 02/19/2018 Posts: 357 Concord Jets Legends | A bit of talk in here about "bad" boards with one impact prospect - after all, a board is only as good/bad as its best option... Had the opposite problem here. Got a good looking board, but on closer inspection I couldn't identify an impact player. Went into one of my longest thinks ever on a draft, and considered no less than 7 players: P: Forsythe Alcala Lawrence Donnelly NP: Shelton Johns Everett Would love to hear anyone's thoughts about my eventual decision (Lawrence). |

VG potential 12 pot with a 1B/LF-only build or G Potential 14 pot with a RF build Both VG hitter with a SLG comment. Both 17yo with current SI in the 60s. Ended up with Elrod. Disappointed to once again not find a usable pitcher in the first round. |

Got a 13 pot P who we were fairly certain would be a lockdown reliever. Really wanted to pick him. But went with this guy. 14 pot, great hitting (tho low currently), high floor from defense. We'd be more excited, but he is eerily reminiscent of Calderon who was a disappointment. Guess we'll see. |

I liked Forsythe better than Lawrence of the pitchers: I dont consider pop FB to be an out pitch and he has less wasted on F/R/A. I didnt really like the NP at all. Johns would have been ok if you really needed a SS. One mans opinion |

You had a tough choice with your board that is for sure.

tamale Joined: 02/19/2018 Posts: 357 Concord Jets Legends | I wasn't too into Shelton, but I thought hard about Everett and Forsythe. I agree with you about Everett possibly being a 13, especially based on his training history so far - a case against that would be his slow SI development so far. Forsythe I think is a candidate to go the other way with his POT, and he wouldn't project too well as a 12 especially being underdeveloped already. In the end, I felt that all of them would need a boost in their outlook to project well, and I thought Lawrence offered the best chance. He's the youngest guy and showed good SI growth so far, and has the best control projection of any of the pitchers. I've been careful not to discount the pop/stamina scouting report - one of the greatest pitchers of all-time had that. Of course Lawrence will never turn into that, and there's a good chance he's nothing (his stats certainly aren't great). But the other guys could easily be nothing as well... |

Seca Joined: 05/05/2014 Posts: 5202 Waterloo Dinosaurs Legends | I would have gone with Forsythe. I'm more concerned about his FB than his growth. Think he will fill out ok. But worried his vel is already mostly dead. Guys with vel that low tend to get BABIP'd pretty hard. Given that, I can see Lawrence as the pick. I'm more worried about his amateur performance than his scouting. |

That is what made me like him even without a hit comment. If Power could go to there and being a 15 maybe PD and BC go high too I thought I could overlook a lower BA and live with him at 3B.

Thrilled with this 19 year old 63 overall: Carlos Cano First 2 spring training starts have been promising!!! |
