Press Releases:

Mar 09 2058: Happy Nadeau sets Grapefruit League Record - by electriceel883 on January 3rd, 2023

He hit 3 home runs against Huntington Beach, bringing his total to 5 homers this Spring

Oct 22 2057: Corral calls it a career - by electriceel883 on December 18th, 2022

Though 36, he still helped the team this season, going 5-4 with a 4.32 ERA. He had 10 games started with 3 QS, one of which was a complete game shutout. He also gave the BP a lift with 2 saves and a hold. He came to us Mid-July 2055, and played a big part in our second place finish that season, after it was feared we would relegate. He was 21-8 in our 101 win, V.9 Championship season of 2056, and but for Olivera, would have won the Cy Young. As it was, 21 wins is an all-time Infernos record, which Corral now shares. He came to the Majors at 23 in 2044 with the Winston-Salem Pirates, with which was a 3 time Cy Young Award Winner. He pitched basically the equivalent of a full season for the Mexican National Team, 2046-2055, hurling 171 2/3 IP, going 15-7 with a 2.83 ERA. He was 5 times All-League, 8 times All-Star with 169 Wins and a 3.08 ERA. While we cant really induct him into our HOF, with only 2.5 seasons on the team, his plaque will be set up in our Championship display room. #99 will be missed. There will be ceremony after the season to retire his number. Snack provided.

Jun 13 2057: End of an Era - by electriceel883 on November 15th, 2022

Nakajima was confident he still had something left after an MVP Caliber 2056: .301/34/111 but a shoulder injury sidelined his plans, even as he DH'ed to try and help the punchless Infernos score runs. After hitting just .195 with 1 HR and 7 RBI's he hangs up his cleats for good, the Infernos All-Time Leader in homers. A 5 time All-Star, he led the team to 3 League Championships in 2049, 2053, 2056.

May 15 2057: Grooms retires - by electriceel883 on November 7th, 2022

36 year old Grooms spent the Spring and early going tutoring young middle infielders Gomez and his own replacement, Owen Burnett. While Burnett has not been batting up a storm, he is playing error free ball. He was finally signed (after 2 sign/releases) in August 2055 and hit .328 the remainder of 2055 and .322 in part-time duty in 2056. Helped us to a 2056 V.9 Title and did everything we needed. Finally he decided to step aside for the younger players to get experience, even though he could probably still contribute. He will move into the team scouting department to continue to find and develop younger players.

Oct 04 2056: Corral sets record; Olivera wins 20th - by electriceel883 on September 28th, 2022

The crafty 35 year old was up to his usual mastery as he got a complete game win against nearest competitor for the division title, Albuquerque. He allowed only 1 ER in a tight game and was the first modern era Pitcher to win 20. Now he has the outright record with 21. Olivera reached 20 wins as well with a strong 7 2/3 IP, 2 ER outing against Cupertino, with a rotation-low 3.29 ERA.
