Thought I'd put this out there since I couldn't really find anything in previous forum threads.

Have a couple players I was wondering about:

https://brokenbat.org/player/371493

https://brokenbat.org/player/373217

First one is an 11POT with a "very good overall" and the second is a 10POT with a "good overall."

I'm trying to decide if these are players I should consider keeping around. Does the very good on an 11POT guy mean that the possibility exists that his POT will increase on a season flip if he develops a bunch in a season? I mean, I have a couple of 13POT players with only the "above average" designation, which seems counter to what I expect from a player at 13.

Any notes on this would be more than appreciated!

The "Potential" scouting report is only loosely correlated with SI potential, which in turn is only loosely correlated with being a good player. That being said, I do think these players seem like good candidates to pop some potential levels; Montgomery in particular.

I think both players seem like they are worth keeping around and developing for at least a little while. Neither is obviously a great prospect, but there is some promise there for both.

Oh, I know all about high SI/high POT guys sucking.

Like the 120SI / 15 POT guy I have with a career batting average of .217.

But hey, he's great on defense?

I think it is reasonable to think both of these guys will increase in POT. Nothing guaranteed, but its certainly a green flag.

Sucking? He's got a 7 in Hitting so that's never going to be his strength. But he can get on base some, can steal bases some, and is an elite defender - so why isn't he your regular SS? That's a waste at 2B. Gonzalez has been a really good player but his two gold gloves were in RF, where he should have stayed - always play your best defender at short. Rowe isn't a SS, no fielding for it, should play CF.

Similarly, why is Sadler playing the OF with 7 Range? That's really hurting your pitching, Range is the most important defensive attribute in the OF. There's some questionable decisions there, and that's probably why (along with the fact you need to get much younger, you don't have enough power, you have too many GIDP, pitching should be getting much better results from the talent, but that's perhaps down to poor defense) you're demoting.
