I prefer BC because I don't know what it actually does. The manual is contradictory... I know what I am missing out on with PD, but BC is a mystery, so I prefer to keep it high.

But Rocks comment a day or two ago about liking BC has got me wondering more about it. What exactly does it do. Bunts and sacrifices, yes, but does anyone know if it affects one's batting average? The higher the BC the higher the BA? Does it do anything else too? Thanks gang!

Great bat control allows you to place the ball where the fielders aren't. But its unclear if that is how it is actually used in the game. Contact without bat control should mean you don't strike out, but you probably hit into a lot of double plays (or just hit outs). I would imagine that BC and Hitting work closely together in getting the ball in play, but as I said, very unclear from the manual. From the manual: Hitting: ability to hit the ball and put it in play. Bat Control: ability to make contact with the baseball, especially important for avoiding strike outs and successful bunting. To me this reads as: Hitting = ability to hit the ball = Bat Control And really the definition for Bat Control looks more like the definition of hitting... Because avoiding strike outs is more about Contact than Control. But then bunting is more about Control than Contact... Very confusing all in all. Updated Monday, March 30 2020 @ 12:06:35 pm PDT |
