It's beyond frustrating seeing the AI make really bad pinch-hitting, positional changes. That includes defensive, and lack thereof, ones. I know it has been brought up several times over the years, but every once in a while it needs to be brought up again. It's really bad and maddening. |

I'm interested in hearing what others would suggest in terms of fixing it though. The best I've come up with is a drop/tick box in the management setting where you choose which positions a player is allowed to fill in for. I'm sure there's a better system but its beyond my little brain to figure it out! | ||

The backup option available in the Lineup page should actually provide the player to substitute in for the starter mentioned, provided they aren't already in the game. Sounds simple, but I have no idea of the coding implications. |

I think Defensive replacements can be a bit more tricky. Does the AI do ok with those right now? You can't really used the defined backups, because quite often those guys are worse defensive players. Unless we added a "defensive replacement" drop down after the backup drop downs. Updated Tuesday, September 25 2018 @ 8:37:52 am PDT |

It would still need to be able to have a starter move from one position to back up for an injured other position if desired. (say you want starting 2b to shift to SS if the starting SS is injured) Option B: drop down in Management where each player can be assigned positions he is allowed to play. |

This is what I was thinking we could add here as well for defensive replacements. Notice they also have a list of pinch hitters and runners. All the interesting stuff is in the bottom right of the screen. Would love it if we could slide starters around to different positions, although I think Steve said that was a bridge to far when I suggested it before.
