I was down 4 games with 4 games left against the other team...I swept them only for them to still be in first place. Ugh...frustrating...I guess run differential is the tie-breaker but I wish it was head-to-head or something. |

MukilteoMike Joined: 08/09/2014 Posts: 3294 Inactive | I hate RD being the tie-breaker, too. I'd prefer a one game playoff because that's basically what happens in real life. If there is a three-way tie that becomes a disaster, though, which I bet is the primary reason it isn't used here. (And, yes, I'm fairly sure there was a three-way tie here at least once.) Even a regular two-team tie causes a hiccup in scheduling. The next best would be to use NBA methods of breaking ties. That might sound weird, but MLB uses a one-game playoff, which I've already dismissed. That means the first tie-breaker would be head-to-head and then division record. |
