Favuz Joined: 02/26/2014 Posts: 664 Oxnard Sunsets V.6 ![]() | I have a couple of questions about new draft pool. When the new pool will be available? next friday or next year? I am not familiar with US scholar system, which kind of player will be in the pool? it's more like college (20-22 yrs with 2-3 years before majors) or high school (17-18 with 5-6 years before majors)? In baseball, you can spend one or two years there and then either transfers or get drafted and go into the minor leagues/major league farm system. Roger Clemens for example started out at San Jacinto College before transferring to UT. After going to high school in the states, Albert Pujols went to Metropolitan Community College-Maple Woods for a year before being drafted by the Cardinals. Steve |

There are a few college programs in Canada, some come to the states...not sure about JCs though. I see there are college like George Brown College which has a baseball program, but I'm not sure at what level the athletic program is and also if that's consider a community college or what. I didn't want to brag and make anybody jealous :P I believe there are junior colleges in Canada, but I have no idea how their system works compared to ours or if they even offer athletics. Edit: just found this page. Says it's "a comprehensive list of community and technical/vocational colleges in Canada." Of course, it's from 1998 so...maybe not as comprehensive as it claims ![]() Updated Monday, February 23 2015 @ 9:49:32 am PST |

Here it's kind of similar to the states where people typically go to University for a 4 year program and college for some sort of 2 year program. For all intended purposes that is the same as the US College/JUCO model. The colleges also have their own sports leagues up here | ||

From what I know of the American system it is more like the Ivy League where the league is competitive but there aren't really any athletic scholarships.
