My pitcher Aguilera - ID# 193193 - has so far proven to be a disappointment. Though only 23, his growth lines have flatlined, so I don't think he has any growth left, maybe a little. I keep hoping his stats will improve, but now I'm beginning to wonder. What say you gang, should I keep him a little longer, maybe send him back to AAA to see if I can squeeze a few more points out of him, or should I jettison him? Thanks.

Seems like a low chance of sticking with such a low Velo rating at that point in his development

Aguilera doesn't have a lot of major league innings, even when you take into account his cup experience. I think it's possible he will continue to gain SI. His league numbers may not look so hot this season, but if you change his dropdown to "All Official Games", then his numbers aren't terrible.

I would keep giving him a shot unless you have a clearly better player that you want to give his playing time to.

Nothing wrong with low velocity, and 20 Movement is FANTASTIC. I would definitely stick with him. That guy will generate 100+ claims if he is cut.

Moo Cows would probably pass on him, but don't think he's clearly busted.

Id say pass him on to another team to try and squeeze out more from him... he'd be welcome here ;)

Another point to remember is that young players often struggle due to inexperience. Aguilera should get better, and while I'm not sure about 100 claims I'd put my money on at least 20 being in for him if he hit waivers. As Rock said 20 Movement is always worth a shot.

A POT 13 Pitcher with 20 Movement and 1.5 GB/FB? I would be surprised if it wasn't 100 claims.

I'd try him as a starter. 10 stamina will work with a 100 pitch count. His build seems to be better fit for limiting damage over a long period rather than getting the guy in front of him out.

10 Stamina and a hundred pitch count? Ive been giving 7/1 for my number of pitches to stamina for my pitchers management settings - i would set 70 pitches for a 10 Stamina. I'm now guessing that's way to low. What is the general consensus as far as how many pitches for a point of Stamina?

75 is the minimum for a Starter. I would set a guy with 10 Stamina at 75.

Had a guy with 8 stamina throw 6 solid innings and 92 pitches against me in the last series.

I've been thinking about Almaric's answer about lack of experience. So are you suggesting that if my pitcher, who I believe is finished with his build (training+experience) but has yet to play for maybe one year or more, that he would play at a level that's not quite his best due to lack of playing time experience? Even though is build is finished? A "just give him a year or two" kind of thing, so to speak? I hope this makes sense. Thanks

I wouldn't assume he is finished. He could still gain more SI through experience (which he will only gain in the majors). Besides which, he has pitched very well this season. A 1.360 WHIP is great for a guy who is still developing.

I don't believe there's any factor other than SI growth which would lead a player to perform better over time in the majors though.

From what I have seen with my players I think experience does improve some players But with others it makes no difference. Sometimes you have to be patient not all players show the true value in the first season or so.

Certainly not in 25 innings. He actually did really good when he was up.

Yeah, it seemed right after I penned this article he got hot. He must have heard the "trade rumors."
