Oct 22 2065: End of an Era - by gmat14 on August 25th, 2024

As the final out came in the 2065 Season for the Jets, the crowd cheers roared onto the field. Not for victory, but as a cry of gratitude. The Jets meteoric rise through the leagues has finally lost steam as the Jets will be relegated back to League III after a 72-88 season. This is their first losing season since 2051, and the first since the new ownership took over, but none of the fans seemed to care. After the final out, club legends Edgar Zarate, Salvador Becerra, and Sammy Barkley took the field one last time as they had announced before the game that they would all retire, marking the end of the "Killer B's" Era. All three of the legends were drafted by the team and where part of the teams that saw promotion out of Leagues VI, V, IV, and III, bringing in an era of success that this club has never known. Manager Harris had this to say about his players: "These giants of the game have brought such joy to this club, this team, this city, and this fanbase. It has been my greatest honor to coach them from the young up and coming players, into these Hall-of-Famers they are today. We will miss them, I will miss them."

Zarate became the first Cy Young winner in Franchise History in 2057

Becerra became the first MVP since legend Tom Hannah (2035) in 2063

Barkley finishes 3rd on the All-Time HR list with 282

And we may never see their like again.

Nov 02 2064: 2064 Season of Ecstasy - by gmat14 on June 12th, 2024

2064 will go down as a season of ecstasy for the Jets! After a full season title race that ended up being decided by run differential after a 95-65 season, the Jets are moving on to League 2 for the first time in franchise history. We had a chance to catch up with the team owner and this is what he had to say:

"I never dreamed of being in this position. When I first bought the team in 2052, I would never have imagined to be going into League 2 after 12 seasons. After the heartbreaks endured in Leagues 6 and 5 I never expected 3 straight years of promotion, but I am glad that the investment into the club has garnered results."

The Jets offseason will be an interesting one to watch as several franchise cornerstones in Becerra, Barkley, and Zarate all mulling potential retirements. Key contributor Russo is also mulling retirement so we will see how different the Jets will be next season.

If this is the end for Zarate, Barkley, and Becerra then what a glorious time together it was.

14 combined All-Stars
7 combined All-leagues
1 Cy Young and 1 MVP
4 Division Titles and 2 League Titles

The 2063 season proved to be one that Jets fans will remember for a long time. The team will be moving up into League 3 for the 2064 season for the first time in franchise history behind 99 wins and the most dominant pitching performance in team history. This year not only brought great team success but also saw historic milestones for several players:

The Jets ultimately lost the League Championship 4-2 to the Appleton Foxes but are still excited to go League 3.

Jul 01 2063: New Jacksonville Jets All-time Saves Record!!! - by gmat14 on February 24th, 2024

On June 29th, 2063, Chuck "Bail" Bonds broke the all-time franchise record for Saves with his 274th as a Jet (352nd for his career) passing Toren Rouse, who had the previous record of 273 for 16 years. Chuck came into a 5-3 game against the Brea Buffalos and allowed no runs on 2 hits and a strikeout to record his 19th save of the season. We were able to catch up with Chuck after the game and he had this to say, "To be the new Saves King for this franchise is an honor. When ownership brought me in, they told me that I was the missing piece to their championship puzzle. They put their trust in me and I'm just happy that after 7 years, 274 saves and 2 titles, I've been able to keep up my end of the bargain". Bonds was immediately mobbed by the entire team and doused in Gatorade as the team celebrates the latest milestone in the Future Hall-of-Famer's career.

Nov 02 2062: 2062 League Champions! - by gmat14 on January 11th, 2024

For the first time in franchise history, the Jacksonville Jets are moving up to League IV! One year after their disappointing 2061, finishing in 2nd place for the 3rd consecutive season, the Jets were looking to breakthrough behind the strength of their pitching staff. After a slow start to the season, going 26-24 in their first 50 games and in 4th place, the Jets engaged the afterburner in inter-league and soared into first behind a 45-15 record. They maintained most of the momentum going 24-19 in the next 43 games to clinch the division title with 7 games remaining. As the young players in the system were inserted into the lineup and rotation for the last 7 games, we caught up with long time captain of the team, Luis Roldan, who had announced at the start of the season that he would be retiring. This is what the future Hall-of-Famer had to say about this season, and his career, “Going through this season was definitely one of the most special experiences I’ve ever had. To experience promotion twice in my career at two different points is humbling. When we promoted into League V I was in the prime of my career and to be able to see us promote into League IV now that I’m one of the old dogs is something I will cherish forever. I am glad to have been able to spend my entire career with this franchise and have the privilege of being the team captain for the last 9 years. I will miss this team, but I know that Bobby [Kirk] will do a wonderful job as the next team captain”. The Jets went on to finish the season with 96 wins and win the League Championship 4-2.
