Apr 18 2052: Kubbs stunn baseball world with firing of Taylor - by HNKBL on October 11th, 2021
In a surprise move the Eau Claire Kubbs say goodby to recently signed manager Rufus Taylor.
"We felt a change was necessary after our second half collapse. We wanted to find a replacement in the offseason, but we didn't feel we found the right guy. Wen we interview Salvador Lopez last week we knew we had found our new manager"
Salvador Lopez is only 26 and will start his managing career with the Kubbs. He's excited to get started and help develop the club into a household name.
Apr 18 2052: Inaugural Kubbs Hall of Fame - by HNKBL on October 11th, 2021
During a ceremony filled with celebration and good vibes team owner HNKBL inducted the first three members to the Kubbs Hall of Fame.
"All three members predate our ownership group, but everyone of them has contributed so much to this franchise. We are nothing without our history." - HNKBL
The first member is former manager Jesse "Doc" Collier.
"Doc" Collier was the manager of the club during the golden years of the franchise.
Collier guided the team to their only major trophy. Winning the cup in the 2015 season. He also led the team to our highest level of competition (division II).
Collier was the clubs manager between 2014 and 2020. He was replaced by Capelli during the 2020 season but the club never recaptured their former glory.
Fans still speak fondly of his achievements and whenever the club is struggling you can hear fans singing his name.
The first position player inducted is Nicolás Castellonas
He played for the club between 2018 and 2033 and never wore a shirt from another club. He is the all-time hits leader and is second all time in games played and homeruns
The first pitcher inducted is Herman Musial
Herman Musial was a real workhorse. He leads the franchise in innings pitched all-time. He also leads the all-time strike-outs list.
Musial played for the franchise between 2009 and 2020. He was a key factor during the golden years of the club.
After his time with the club he played for two other seasons with the Wheaton Ravens and the Erie Aces.
Jul 16 2051: Kubbs players shine in All-star game - by HNKBL on August 19th, 2021
In an entertaining game the East won the VI.29 All-star game with a great contribution from 4 Kubbs players.
Arthur "mr. Kubbs" Bélanger - Hit the game winning sack fly in the bottom of the 9th. He also drew a walk earlier in the game.
Iván Hernandez - He scored the winning run after coming on as a pinch hitter in the 9th and stealing 3rd base to be able to score.
Rich Stokes - Got one hit and walked twice. Called a great game from behind the plate.
Luis Alvarez - Pitched 3 scoreless innings with 1 K and 1 hit.
Jun 20 2051: New headcoach for the Kubbs - by HNKBL on August 12th, 2021
In a suprise move the Eau Claire Kubbs have fired their manager Joshua Battaglia and hired new manager Rufus Taylor.
General manager HNKBL explained to the media that the front office was happy with Battaglia but where more intrigeud with Taylor: "Joshua did an excellent job from the moment we hired him until today, but when Rufus became available we had to make a chose. Rufus is known in the baseball community as a good teacher of pitchers. Pitching has been our weakpoint and we like to see what Rufus can contribute in that department.
Obviously Battaglia was devastated when he heared the news but we believe that we chose for the manager with the higher upside"
May 14 2051: Kubbs add veteranosity with Neil Harvey - by HNKBL on August 1st, 2021
The Eau Claire Kubbs signed the 35 year old Neil Harvey. The long time Colorado Springs reliever returns to baseball after sitting out the 2050 season.
Harvey explained to the gathered media:"I used the time to find out if the fire to play ball still burned inside me. When GM HNKBL called I had just decided to give it one last go."
According to HNKBL "Harvey has experience on the games highest level and we hope he can help guide our younger players. Harvey is a great profesional and we believe he can still help our ballclub win games"
Harvey hads signed a one year deal worth $800.000. To make room on the roster the team demoted RHP Ron Bartolini.
