RECAP: The Braves only run was the first run scored. It was scored in the 3rd by a HR by Lawson. Mendozza did well up until the 4th when his control began to slip away, and the Bombers made him pay dearly by scoring two runs off of a pair of singles, & a double. In the 5th, the Bombers scored on a wild pitch to make it 3 - 1. Despite the loss, the Marietta lineup showed better discipline at the plate than in the first 2 games.

RECAP: It was a stalemate, with both starters going good until the bottom of the 4th, when the Braves scored 2 runs off of a 2-run HR by Tafoya. After this, Edison would immediately respond in the top of the 5th off of a double, a passed ball, and sacrifice. This would mark the second stalemate of the game, which would last until the 9th when Edison would score the tying run off of a double, wild pitch, & single. The game would go into extras, and another stalemate would take the game into the 13th in which Edison would score 3 runs off of a single, & stolen base by Gruber, a double, a wild pitch, and another double.

RECAP: Jesus Villanueva had a dominant performance throughout his appearance, throwing 6 innings for 1 Hit, 1 Walk, & 6 Strikeouts. For the Braves, things went just as smooth, tacking on a run early off of double hit by Lawson & a pair of sacrifices to bring him on. The Braves also scored in the 4th inning with a Single, a pair of walks, and a sacrifice. Jesus was pulled at the end of the 6th, and thats what the Bombers dropped the bombs on the bullpen. They immediately scored a run off of a single by Gruber, who then stole second, AND third. He was then drove in off of a sacrifice by Brown. The Braves would hold the Bombers to 1 run, until 1 out in the top of the 9th when Gruber hit a Homerun to tie the game at 2, forcing extra innings. The Braves held in the 10th, but in the 11th, the Bombers scored a 2-run rally off of a walk drawn by Gruber.

The Braves fall to 0 - 1

Ahh, Spring. The best time of the year. Well, 3rd best, with the regular season & playoffs notching the 2nd & 1st slots.
Welcome to the first ever Marietta Braves Spring Training! An exciting time for us all as several prospects from our minor leagues will be called up, some for development purposes, others to compete for a roster spot.
Be sure to come on out to the ballpark as we host the Edison Bombers (VI.18) in a double-header on March 1st!
