crackit Joined: 05/15/2013 Posts: 315 Anchorage Lawless IV.4 | It is a five man rotation with six pitchers where the fifth slot alternates between the SP5 and The spot starter (SS). Provide flexibility when you have four definite starters but don't have a stand-out candidate for the fifth position. It might be used where you have starters who don't have sufficient stamina to pitch every fifth game; or where you can't decide between two pitchers for the fifth place on the starting rota.
