What is 4 and 1/2 man rotation on pitching tactics page and how does it work?

It is a five man rotation with six pitchers where the fifth slot alternates between the SP5 and The spot starter (SS).

Provide flexibility when you have four definite starters but don't have a stand-out candidate for the fifth position.

It might be used where you have starters who don't have sufficient stamina to pitch every fifth game; or where you can't decide between two pitchers for the fifth place on the starting rota.

Hope this helps.

The 4 1/2 man rotation works as follows:

SP1, SP2, SP3, SP4, SP5, SP1, SP2, SP3, SP4...

So the 5th pitcher only starts every other rotation through the order.

I did not understand , Crackit said response and Steve a different one.
The 5th pitcher always starts every 2 rotations , regardless if the 1st pitcher has not full energy ?

What Steve said is correct. To answer your followup question, I believe it might depend on what fatigue level you have your starters to go at, but I'm not sure.

I used this kind of rotation because my fifth pitcher is very talented but lacks stamina to perform long games.

Is this rotation alright or should I just make my rotation 4-man and make him my set-up man?

I'm guessing you're talking about Arnold. With 6 Stamina, he needs to be a prominent member of your bullpen.

Interesting choice of tactic. I'll give it a try. Thanks!
