Advantage or disadvantage dropping young players back to AAA for regular ABs or IPs?

Depends on development. Guys can continue to gain Training in AAA at 26 years old. I suspect they will normally do better in AAA than sitting the bench in the majors. But they can only gain Training, not Experience in AAA.

If they are only sitting the bench in the majors they aren't getting much of anything (some Training). But the biggest difference is probably position experience. Guys in AAA will continue to gain position experience. They will gain more playing games in the majors. But again, if they are just going to be sitting the bench in the majors, they will gain more in AAA.

Also at this point in the season there are no minor league games. I *think* your guys in AAA gain less in general at this point in the season. But probably still better than sitting the bench.

The only disadvantage is if they are losing out on significant playing time in the majors. If they were only going to pick up 4-5 ABs in the week coming off the bench, they are probably better off in AAA.

Thanks Rock.

Doh! I should have AAA'd them earlier.

I started this season with a rebuild and develop mindset but had to bench my developers to get back into the top 4. Currently sitting 3rd, 8½ behind. 4th and 5th are 18 and 19 behind respectively. Now, tossing up whether to return to the development lineup or continue to compete. I will probably end some contracts soon before seasons end, unless my team continues to close the gap, and miraculously finds itself in contention.
