It can be a nice chunk of change since the games usually sell out (maybe higher ticket prices?). Otherwise, the winner just gets prestige, a trophy, and some positive fan mood (which effects gate income next season). Losing can actually hurt fan mood which can hurt your income a bit at the start of the next season.

It can set you behind worse teams that didn’t make the playoffs. You absolutely must win in the playoffs or your hard earned season long mojo disappears. If it makes the start of the next season harder that adds to the penalty. I wish the playoffs were neutral for both teams.
