Ernie Carr, a 34 year old pitcher has increased has skill index by 6 this week http://brokenbat.org/player/32507

Whereas Wayne Rich, a 33 year old pitcher has increased his skill index by 7
http://brokenbat.org/player/34180

Both have been used this year so would be gaining experience. At the end of last year Ernie Carr had a 101 SI, this fell to 96 at the start of this season so it seems to have returned to the same level (though it may not be distributed the same way). Wayne Rich was a new acquisition.

I am not complaining, but was just wondering

Yes, there was an aging bug in the last training update:

August 30th, 2013 - Fountain of Youth Discovered? Or Aging Bug?

There was a hiccup in the aging formula in last night’s training and a number of older players (age 31+) experienced amazing revitalizations. This issue has been resolved in code and correct player skill values will be used for all games. Unfortunately, correct player skill display values will not be updated until the next training update. I apologize for this inconvenience.

Yes, it was an aging glitch so only older players were affected. There may have been a few erroreous speed pops on 29-30 year olds too, because that's one of the first skills to decline.

Is there a way for you to discern if a 31+ should have popped anyways? I was rather hoping Jimmy Baldwin's pop was legit: http://brokenbat.org/player/38631. Still a growin' boy...

Unfortunately, there is no easy way to tell. With this player it could be either, as he's probably still moving up the experience curve.
