Mar 20 2033: Bigger Expectations in Fargo
- by Shtaaf on August 6th, 2017
It would be a significant understatement to say that the expectations are exponentially higher this season for the Fargo Bison, which is something owner/manager Shtaaf Reimish is proud of. "It means we've made this team better," Reimish commented. "This is a young team that finally played .500 ball last season for the first time in forever, and with the additions made during the off-season, its fair to put greater expectations on this crew."
Among those changes was the signing of highly coveted waiver claim Marlon Banks, whose dynamite left arm had 164 teams making a claim. "It really feels like we won the lottery with Marlon," Reimish adds. "To get a guy we can slot immediately into our starting rotation, if not our Ace spot, is more than anyone could have asked for. But not just Banks, we picked up a couple other guys who we're excited about and also bringing up a prospect or two from the farm, so we're excited about where this ship is headed!"
Things get kicked off with Cup play against League V side El Mirage on the 23rd with League play beginning in Rochester Hills on the 27th. Fargo fans will have to wait a while before the team comes home for their League home opener however, as that game is scheduled for April 11th against East Honolulu. It should be another action packed season for the Bison, so grab your tickets and we'll see you at the ballpark all season long!
Oct 24 2032: 2032 Season in Review
- by Shtaaf on July 17th, 2017
With the ownership and managerial change on Opening Day, few knew what to expect out of this years campaign for the Fargo Bison. The team was marred in a 12-year sub-500 drought with multiple owners coming in and out of the doors. Shtaaf Reimish took over the team promising many of the same things previous ownership groups had, but this time, the season ended above .500! Not only that, the once depleted farm system is now stocked with goodies that show extreme promise for this oft-overlooked franchise.
While there were many droughts along the way as one can expect with a young rebuilding team, some bright spots included:
Sophomore closer JM Rodriguez ending the year with 41 saves and a 2.01 ERA
Fellow sophomore Earl Webber's first full season as a starter finishing with a 14-12 record in 34 starts with an ERA of 3.20
26-year-old Eduardo Vela ending his third season in the majors with a .276/.372/.482 slash line
With an average age of 27.7 in the majors and 24.2 in the minors Fargo seems to be heading in the right direction. Reimish adds, "We took a big step in the right direction this year finishing above 500 with the young guys, but we would have loved to be even closer to the top of the standings. We have the potential to be there next year, so hopefully Coach Bird and the boys can come back ready to go next spring."
See you next season!
Mar 25 2032: New Face for the Bison
- by Shtaaf on May 22nd, 2017
With the change of ownership comes a change of management for the Fargo Bison. Scot Allen was released of his duties following the first round of cup play by new owner Shtaaf Reimish. Incoming to the Bison organisation is Stanley Bird of Costa Mesa California. With 4 years of managing experience and a League 5 title to his name, Bird bring a much needed fresh face to a Fargo franchise that has not seen a winning season in well over a decade. Says Bird, "I'm excited about the direction Fargo is heading with Reimish in charge, and I look forward to working closely with him to reach this team's full potential."
Mar 20 2032: New Era of Baseball in Fargo
- by Shtaaf on May 22nd, 2017
The Fargo Baseball Club is happy to announce that they are under new ownership! While the Bison have been through numerous changes in recent years, it appears stability may finally be here. President Shtaaf Reimish explains, "The main goal is to provide a high performing baseball club for the long term for the excellence starved fans here in Fargo. While this may mean a drop in immediate success, the long term is in mind with every move this club makes."
Jul 16 2030: Much Change
- by BStrupp on January 18th, 2017
The Fargo Aces, coming under new ownership, have been renamed the Fargo Buffaloes to commemorate Dakota history. Along with a name change, the Buffaloes have made numerous roster changes. We are looking to improve here in the back half of the season, and to be a formidable force for many years to come.
