I never really look at the box scores very closely, but any idea why Norm "The Paradox" Parodi didn't get a save in this game? Pitched 1 1/3 innings, from up 4 runs. Seems like a straightforward save to me...?

 Not just you:

[REDACTED]

 Disregard, I apparently read one or two games wrong, had a fairly spectacular copypasta fail besides, and can’t fix anything right now. I’ll try again later. x.x

Well, for one, a save has to be three runs or less. Still doesn't explain APs final link though.

I was remembering something wrong about the save rule. You can get a save up by 4 if there are two runners on. Up by 5 with bases loaded, but there were no runners on when Parodi took the mound.

When Parodi comes in, his team is up by four runs and no runner on base. Why is that a save situation?

It's not. I was remembering the rule incorrectly.

Yeah...FYI:

1. He is the finishing pitcher in a game won by his team;
2. He is not the winning pitcher;
3. He is credited with at least ⅓ of an inning pitched; and
4. He satisfies one of the following conditions:
a. He enters the game with a lead of no more than three runs and pitches for at least one inning
b.He enters the game, regardless of the count, with the potential tying run either on base, at bat or on deck
c. He pitches for at least three innings.
