Well I want to put something out there, since at least someone here might be slightly happy for me.

After being relegated down to VI, and the pitching staff that stinks, and a 120/15 SP decide to just be terrible and sport and ERA just under 5, there is at least one glimmer of hope.

Josiah Nichols, drafted back in '67, has moved into the top spot in the Global Top 100 prospects. SI went up 15 last season, and has already hit 12 pops this season.

Hey, one positive in a pretty poor season...

Wow, he could get that arrow up here pretty quickly at age nineteen.

Meanwhile, on the Gulf Coast, I think this season might be the time to call it quits on my old, sputtering closer.

This is my 22nd season managing this team (I took control of it just before the season roll-over between 47/48, so the archives give me 47 too, but I never did a single game in 2047). I have only ever had 2 closers. In those 22 seasons, those two combine for nearly 1000 saves.

I think that's pretty neat.

Follow-up on Josiah Nichols above...

He just popped the "level of competition" note in AAA.

Should I just call him up now and start him in the Majors? Is that "better" than leaving him in AAA for a little longer since he's only 19, well pretty much 20, and only at 91 SI?

Personally, I would give him more minor league time. He really didn't get much time in AA ball. But no one has a crystal ball to know for sure. Best of luck and hope he turns out for you no matter what you decide.

Called him up to start the last game of the season just for fun.

4 walks, 4 hits, 5 runs in 2 and 2/3 innings.

Back to the minors you go!

I know for hitters, batting AVG is the be-all and end-all for end of season votes, and I've benefitted from it myself, but man...Morrison was stiffed. :(

Another "That's baseball" moment.

This guy just went 1-13 with a 4.65 ERA.

I realise he ain't Nolan Ryan, but that still seems seriously unfortunate.

Colon definitely deserved MVP. Lead in avg, ops, rbi, and just one hr behind Morrison.
