Mar 02 2042: 3 Veteran Pitchers join Royals in Free Agency - by thpoole on August 17th, 2019

A trio of pitchers: Matias Karjalainen, Jerry Hook, and Steve Grant have joined Palatine in what was an active summer free agency for the team. The obvious and highly exploitable weakness of the team last season was the lack of depth in the rotation and the bullpen. Manager Juan Pablo Pedraza hopes the three and bring stability to the inconsistent pitching staff.

Nov 04 2041: Royals season ends in bittersweet fashion - by thpoole on August 9th, 2019

Many wrote off Palatine heading into the season’s penultimate promotion playoff with Oxford, and while the Royals ultimately fell in 6 games fans were happy that the team made things competitive. After two great pitching performances that limited Oxford’s lights-out batting, the weak Palatine rotation was not able to hold off the talent of the Phoenix’s order.

With some big names likely to retire in the offseason, Royals fans are waiting with baited breath to see if the young talent is ready to step up for a promotion run next year. Names like Juan Sanchez and Mark Lane should see more chances to make an impression, and the team is likely to target some big name pitching talent in free agency.

Congrats to Oxford for winning promotion! Hope we can join you next year.

Oct 24 2041: Division Champs! - by thpoole on August 5th, 2019

In a pivotal 4 game series, Palatine held off Garland to secure a division title and a place in the playoff against seemingly unstoppable Oxford. While it will undoubtedly be a tough set of games, Palatine manager Pedraza is confident that the Royals can make things interesting for the title favorites.

Oct 04 2041: Royals solidify position with huge series win - by thpoole on August 1st, 2019

Palatine had been slipping coming into the final games of the 2041 season, while their division rivals Garland had been surging. In a three game series that may have decided the division winner, Palatine won three unanswered over the Garland team that had managed to draw even with the Royals the week before. The Garland rotation could not catch a break as Palatine racked up a gargantuan 36 runs over three games. With a three game lead and the run differential advantage, all Palatine has to do is hold on to punch their ticket to a showdown with Oxford for the title.

Jul 13 2041: Palatine Impresses Heading into Break - by thpoole on July 9th, 2019

The Royals have been firing on all cylinders in the 2041 season, and are on pace for their best record in team history. Currently on top of the west, Palatine sports the best batting average, RBI total, HR total, and ERA in the division.

With many of Palatine's top players above or nearing 30, many expected the team to fall off coming into this season, but big performances by the 28 year old duo of Marcos Diaz and "Junior" Estrada and swan-song seasons for veterans such as Carney, Fulton, and Guzman have paved the path to success. New manager Juan Pablo Pedraza commented "The fire our veterans have brought this season has been incredible, the fact that we have two 34 year olds on pace for 100+ RBIs is a testament to the way we play and the culture we've built as a team"
