Jan 13 2062: Akron win V.7 League Championship! - by JSJAngling on October 28th, 2023

The Akron Aardvarks go 96-64 to win the V.7 League championship! It was a great all around year and the team got hot and road the wave to eventually take home the hardware. Lead by MVP Sean Nettles the Akron bats once again came in clutch hitting a league best .286 on the year. MVP of the series is young outfielder Alan Faris, hitting .400 for the series with 5 extra base hits as he continues to prove himself as an everyday starter. Going into next year it will be cruicial to find the right mix of continuing to develop young guys like Faris, Lee Landis and Marco Maldanado while also contiuing to enjoy guys like Nettles, Cam Rizzo, and Larry Ash fill out their primes. The pitching side is where it is a little mor shaky, to start in the bullpen Tracy Singer, Jay Owen, and Ken Cody are all very good and very rarely choke games, the only problem is they're not getting any younger. As far as starters, unsure if the 4 main rotation of Ariel Cadena, Elvis Edwards, Robert Blum, and Kip Flaherty that did so much for us down the stretch will be able to repeat. To hopefully fight that new manager Ernie Newcomb was brought in. Also have claims on a ton of new pitchers, Blum and Flaherty will definitely be in the rotation. But regression hit Cadena hard once again and unsure if Edwards is actually that good. In the minors Tyler Campbell continues to be the future of the team, now ranked as the 36th best prospect in all of Broken Bat, even getting an upgrade to pot 15 in update 0. Other top prospects such as Ernie Campanini and Jose Navarro to name a few continue to improve. Expect a lot of rookies to start getting PT within 2-3 years. Expectations for next year are to hopefully stay up in league IV. I know the bats can, time will tell if everything else will support it.

Oct 22 2060: Akron go 92-68, finish second in league - by JSJAngling on August 7th, 2023

To start off the press release I would like to congratulate Alamonte Springs, being ranked 24 in Broken Bat as a league level 5 time is insane. Going off of that I think we have a team that would promote from most ll5 leagues and can hopefully win the league next year. I do think Sean Nettles batting .347 with 42 HR and 137 RBIs should win MVP. Another shoutout has got to be Lee Landis, 24-year-old with 42 waiver claims, towards the end of the year I gave him his shot and he did not disappoint, batting .369 with 7 HRs and 29 RBIs in a whopping 36 games. For most of the year pitching was our issue, the main bright spot being closer Ken Cody with a 1.94 ERA and only 4 blown saves through the year. However young waiver pickup Kip Flahtery was very good as well and I am excited to see what he can do. Towards the end of the year Elvis Edwards and Larwence Lombardo were very good off waivers and I can only hope regression doesn't kill them this offseason. I could ramble on and on all day but overall great season, improve the squad a little this year and hopefuly promote next year

Sep 26 2059: Akron wins Division! - by JSJAngling on May 15th, 2023

Less than a month after being taken over by GM Joe Jackman, the Akron Aardvarks have secured promotion to league V. "To see us go from second when I took over to winning by a big margin is a great sign" says Joe. A lot of credit has to be given to pickups since I took over such as Felipe Baca, Christian Rodriquez, Gilberto Pantejoa, and Antonio Ezparza to name a few, guys like that along with our all stars such as Cam Rizzo and Larry Ash to name a few deserve all the credit. To see this team, go from second to dominating the league and in first is huge and really gets me excited for the future. Now we get a chance to see young guys like Benjamin Barrera, Brooks Moore, Dick Cauvangh, and Marco Maldanado shine for the rest of the season before trying to win the playoffs and getting a huge cash prize. This 10-game winning streak to win the league has been so fun and I can't wait to continue on.
