BEAVERCREEK-Heading into their first full season under new management, there is a lot to be excited about. That excitement came to fruition in the very first game of the season, a 4-0 shutout of #8 ranked and last year's Cup runner-up, Margate. Although the Beavers would go on to lose the rest of that series, the win still gave the players confidence. Ace pitcher Lucas Bergman absolutely dominated the Magicians, striking out 8 in 7.1 shutout innings, and key doubles from rookies Corey Casini and Isaac Young provided the spark needed to get the win.

Catcher Min Jae Kim, signed only a few days before the start of the season, hit four homeruns in his first two games with the Beavers. Kim was previously the backup catcher on the Terre Haute Highlanders team that won back-to-back Cups, and so Beavercreek thought he could be a valuable presence in the locker room. In the five seasons prior, Kim only hit a total of 25 HRs in 760 ABs. Could this be the sign of a power revitalization for the veteran catcher? Kim sat the final game of the series against Olympia, allowing Fabian Coronado to get a start. Coronado went 3-for-4 with a double in the loss.

Rodolfo Ortiz got the win in his first start as a regular member of the rotation, surrendering only two hits in six shutout innings.

The Beavers head to Delta next for a three game set. The Tigers were swept in a 4-game series by South Gate, and are looking to recover form.

Building upon his success in turning the Berlin/Presque Isle Vikings into a top-flight squad, Cactusguy21 has been granted by the commissioner the opportunity to improve our beloved Beavers, and hopefully bring them out of the misery that has plagued this franchise.

He has begun a flurry of roster moves, cutting over a dozen players and signing basically anyone under 28 he can get his hands on.
