Sep 18 2019: Rockets Blast Off to League III! - by yanksfan13 on September 27th, 2014

It's official: the Rockford Rockets will be taking their talents to league III.4. The series sweep over Rockville sealed the deal.

Sep 13 2019: Will the Rockets Clinch? - by yanksfan13 on September 26th, 2014

The Rockford Rockets have a chance to clinch the IV.8 East on Saturday. They take on the 2nd-place Rockville Bulldogs, who sit at 28.5 games back. The Rockets' magic number is 6, so a sweep of this 3-game set would seal promotion for Rockford. The projected game 1 starters are Julio Carrillo for Rockville and Armstrong Wright for Rockford.

Aug 31 2019: Home Stretch - by yanksfan13 on September 23rd, 2014

The Rockets have a 30 game lead near the start of the last stretch of division play. It will be tough for anyone to catch them. At this point, Rockford will look to maintain a full head of steam going into next season. League III seems to be a given.

Jun 10 2019: Next Up In The Cup - by yanksfan13 on September 1st, 2014

Next up in the Cup for Rockford: the Las Vegas Dragons. The Dragons hail from the Legends League West and are currently the most prestigious team in the Broken Bat universe. They're undefeated in the knockout stage thus far, rolling through league V Pompano and Huntington Beaches with a record of 4-0.

This is the second consecutive year in which Rockford has met a Legends league squad in the knockout stage. In last year's round of 256, the Rockets fell to the Jersey City Scorpions in 3 games. The Scorpions would go on to win the 2018 Cup.

If the Rockets were to advance past favored Las Vegas, it would be the best Cup finish in Rockford history. Armstrong Wright is projected to face Emilio Espinoza on the mound in game 1.

May 17 2019: Cubs and Rockets Split - by yanksfan13 on August 25th, 2014

The Rockford Rockets and the Mount Vernon Cubs finished the final series of the group stage as equals. Each club took two games from the set of four. After game 1, Mount Vernon was the only team still without a cup loss, until Rockford knocked them off their perch with a 3-0 game 2 conquest.

The pitchers dictated the pace of this series. Game 3, by far the highest-scoring game, ended in a 9-4 Mount Vernon win. Each of the other three games featured five runs or fewer. The average result in this series was a 4.5-3.75 Mount Vernon win.

Mount Vernon looks forward to a series with the St. Charles Tigers, hailing from league V.11. The Tigers posted a 13-7 mark in cup group #1, finishing third.

Meanwhile, Rockford will face the Santa Cruz Blue Jays from league VI.17 on Friday. The Jays also finished the group stage with a 13-7 record, placing second in cup group #113.
