Jul 16 2047: 2nd half roller-coaster! - by Jimmy W on October 15th, 2020
GM Jimmy W stepped out of the clubhouse to greet the fans sporting a smoking jacket, Cuban cigar, sombrero and pina colada sans umbrella.
"Half way there!" he exclaimed gingerly on two legs.
"But.. with a RD rate nothing to smile about and another tough road trip out to the 'Killer' West, we could just as easy be chasing 3rd, come our return!"
"Turning to the recent chops and changes... (upon seeing a kid hoist up a 'Jeng for Pres' t-shirt)
"Yes, it was sad to let Jeng go but with Howard chomping at the bit, I had to take a calculated risk" (The kid isn't buying it and throws a thumbs down)
" I know, I know son, I loved Jeng like a brother...
(reaches out to sign the Jeng T - but the kid snatches away)
"Look, I never wanted to release mid-season, nor bring the rookie up but figured, if it don't work out at least it'll give him the experience for next season"
The kids dad, gives his son a playful shove and he relents, smiles and gives Jimmy the thumbs up.
"So, we've been winning games by a run or two but had too many beatings and taken a step back in terms of our performance and results toward the end of last year"
He takes a gulp and finishes off his drink, then as if noticing the looks of disdain from the parents gathered
"Oh, look... (pulls out an empty bottle and shows it around) Non-alcoholic, I've not touched a drop all season... well apart from Aunt Mary's party... (blushes) best not go there... sorry Aunt Mary"
Jimmy steps back to the top of the stairs and oversees his dominion
"We're still in first, and with such a poor RD, imagine where we'll end up once the bats get hot!"
(does a wee jig)
"And please fans, ladies and gentlemen of the press, don't forget we never had such a good start last year either and ended up at 90 wins which will probably take it this year"
The doors behind fling open and the entire team burst out and clap the assembled.
The crowd go crazy as the players all mingle signing shirts, bats and balls - anything they can get their hands on.
"Remember to keep the faith, believe and we'll see you out at the park, soon!"
Howard, gives the kid with the Jeng T-shirt a signed ball. He has a smile from ear to ear - now a convert
May 29 2046: Cup Fever - by Jimmy W on July 17th, 2020
GM Jimmy W is both excited and realistic about the 3-game upcoming series against a much higher ranked team.
"It's the cup so yes anything can happen but lets just say we haven't put any champagne on ice... a Coors light or three, maybe."
Jimmy swats away a pesky fly
"We shall however fight like Lions even though we've called up AAA first base man Evers, plus a future number one starting pitcher '[email protected]' Tapia who shall start game 3."
Jimmy's mobile interrupts his flow and he starts up the clubhouse steps.
"Sorry Guys, gotta go... but whatever the outcome, it's sure gonna be entertaining and certainly better than last year!"

Apr 14 2046: Bowles released - by Jimmy W on July 5th, 2020
An animated GM, Jimmy W stood on the steps of the Clubhouse earlier this morning, to announce what many had speculated on over the past few days.
"Today we released Bowles, a Vet who we all had great hopes for. Now this may be viewed as somewhat harsh, but after giving up 11 walks in only 2 games, especially the manner in which they occurred. Plus, picking up a two week injury which forced us to consider this decision."
Jimmy paused and gave out a deep sigh.
"Listen, it's not easy to let such a potential winning starter go... but after we lose our third starter with the opening 12 games. Things need to change, they just gotta happen!"
Jimmy takes a quick slug of water.
"So the show goes on, and we have picked up a pitcher, Herschel. (holds aloof his jersey) Aged 30 yes, but not really been utilised and in much higher surroundings. So we're hoping that our scouting reports are true and we can make a starting Picture out of him yet!"
With that Jimmy W turned up the steps and several youngsters surround him for an autograph.
