The Catfish don't always try to win in Cup play. It varies depending on the amount of young players who need playing time. Nov 04 2024: Catfish Snubbed in League Awards - by EchoBravo34 on November 6th, 2015
The Sioux City Catfish admittedly struggled for a good portion of the season, finishing at an even .500 win/loss percentage. However, the Catfish did have their share of bright moments and players this year. This apparently went unnoticed by League Officials and Baseball Writers when picking League II.1's All-League Team. Sioux City did not have a player selected. The notable oversight was second basemen Manny Owens. Owens had a triple slash line of .266/.350/.445 (all career highs), as well as a career high 23 home runs. Second basemen Scott Walsh of the Buffalo Bison was selected by the All-League Committee. Walsh finished the year with a line of .261/.327/.431 and hit 20 home runs. Owens also had the higher fielding percentage .964 to Walsh's .957.
