Nov 04 2024: Catfish Snubbed in League Awards
- by EchoBravo34 on November 6th, 2015
The Sioux City Catfish admittedly struggled for a good portion of the season, finishing at an even .500 win/loss percentage. However, the Catfish did have their share of bright moments and players this year. This apparently went unnoticed by League Officials and Baseball Writers when picking League II.1's All-League Team. Sioux City did not have a player selected. The notable oversight was second basemen Manny Owens
. Owens had a triple slash line of .266/.350/.445 (all career highs), as well as a career high 23 home runs. Second basemen Scott Walsh
of the Buffalo Bison was selected by the All-League Committee. Walsh finished the year with a line of .261/.327/.431 and hit 20 home runs. Owens also had the higher fielding percentage .964 to Walsh's .957.
Oct 20 2024: Harrison Hits for the Cycle; Catfish lose 11-7
- by EchoBravo34 on November 1st, 2015
Sioux City outfielder Kyle Harrison hit for the cycle in Sioux City's 11 - 7 loss against Phoenix. Harrison's rare feat is a bright spot for the Catfish this season. Sioux will most likely finish 4th in the division, avoiding relegation. The Catfish are one game under .500 with three games left to play.
Jul 27 2023: Pacheco to DL for 34 Days
- by EchoBravo34 on July 25th, 2015
Catfish ace Ramon Pacheco has been placed on the DL, suffering from bone spurs in his elbow. The loss of their top pitcher comes at a poor time for the Catfish as the 2nd half of the season gets under way. Sioux City is in a division fight against the Huntington Catfish and at press time are only 2 games back. Sioux City recently acquired veteran reliever Andrew Holland to add some depth in the bullpen; however, the Catfish will have to rely upon their up and coming rookies to fill the gap in the rotation. Rookie Patrick McGinnis will take Pacheco's place initially, but he will have to prove himself if he wants to stay there.
