Jun 08 2067: A tearful goodbye to Blazes - by electriceel883 on December 23rd, 2024
Our highest waiver claim ever back in '54 with 73, he had 9 seasons as the Infernos primary late inning right hand reliever, including one ASG. He may be our only reliever to do so. 8 of those seasons were sub 4 ERA and one was sub 3. He made his first post season appearance in '56, only our second championship team. In all he helped us to 4 league championships and one divisional championship. Unfortunately we are going nowhere this season, need to get younger and next season he'd be 35.
Nov 02 2065: Kennedy wins his 5th CY - by electriceel883 on August 30th, 2024
The pitcher anointed by one Tamale himself shortly after he was drafted, as a future Top 10 hurler in broken bat, bounced back from two losing seasons that featured 2 of his worst 3 in terms of RS. Whereas 2065 was his best, by quite a bit, giving him a career low in losses with 7. While he tied a career high with 22 homers allowed, it was by far his best season in limiting hits, and came on the heels of his first decline at Age 30.
Sep 01 2063: 1B admits to accepting bribes - by electriceel883 on March 12th, 2024
Manager Logan Nagel hauled 1B "Mossad" Moosvi aside after his 5th error in 5 games. Moosvi said: "I dont know how to play 1B anyway, so it was easy to take Makakilo's money". Newell was asked if he would quit if a fly ball hit him on the head in the OF "Absolutely!" When asked about getting hit on the shoulder he said "No, you cant trick me! Shoulder doesnt count! only the head"! His run scoring error in a 3 run 7th was one of four on the day. Ugly, Ugly times for Irvine
May 21 2063: Another Warrior Hangs Up His Shield - by electriceel883 on February 13th, 2024
A1, Alex Olivera, decided he doesnt have enough left in the tank to get to 150 wins without being detrimental to the team prospects. The team is fighting to get out of the cellar, so the former CY award winner will join the Mayor on the beer league softball circuit. So many stars of the '50's gone, but never forgotten
Mar 27 2063: Darren Alderman Appreciation Day - by electriceel883 on January 30th, 2024
The Mayor hung up his glove today after making his 10th opening day start, dating back to 2053. He is 7-0 on opening day with 3 no-decisions. This season, the 35 year old "Mayor" pitches as brilliantly as ever. After Nadeau's error allowed the first runner to reach base, scored, that was the extent of the damage. He allowed just 3 hits and completed 7 strong innings. Unfortunately Bustamante put 2 guys on base with two outs, and a Littleton triple was the difference in the 3-2 loss. We will never see another like him. 5'9 175 lbs with little in the way of a repertoire, all he did was get people out and come up big in clutch games. The 2058 Season was his finest: 16-4 with a 2.48 ERA, and he is largely responsible for that title. His career statistics dont jump out at you, but he's been the heart and soul of this team since he arrived in the Spring of 2051. It is with the utmost pride that he will be inducted in the HOF at the conclusion of this season.
