Was wondering if there was any interest in adding umpires to the game. Perhaps some umpires would have wider strike zones than other. Not sure what else they might do to affect the game.

Anyway, it's more of a long term addition, but thought I'd throw it out there to see what people thought or if they could add to the idea.

They could eject players for arguing calls occasionally as well. As a fan of the all-time leader in ejections (Bobby Cox), it would inject an element of flavor that adds entertainment. If the only addition is more randomness with the strikes/balls then I would be against it, but if my concerns were voiced by my managers and players and led to some ejections to liven things up then I'd go for it.

I hate to say it, but my players miss enough games due to injuries already.

I wouldn't hate it, but I'd prefer you to work on other more important things first. Steve is there anyway we can see a list of additions that are in progress?

No, I don't think that is a needed change to the game. I feel like there are a lot more improvements (like a more in-depth management/substitution/depth chart system) that should trump anything like that.

Steve,

I am not adverse to this change but do wonder as it adds a bit of "colour" to the game but I wonder if the impact would be fairly invisible to us, would it be th ththate strike zone is an in game variable we cannot see, influence or prepare for?

It would be interesting to hear from any players that change team selections or tactics based on the weather forecast or ballpark dimensions for instance.

I'd agree with Crackit's points on this. While I'm all for adding flavor to the game, from the description you gave, I don't think it would effect my gaming experience enough to justify the investment of time required to develop it. I don't think it's a bad idea, but something like bench/pitching coaches might be a better option to add flavor and color to the game.

Agree with basically everyone. Nice to have, and I would find ejections (which would probably need the same functionality as in-game injuries) more interesting than variations in the strike zone. I'd put it _very_ low on the list of priorities, though.

At the top of my wish list would be putting some more detail into the actual game engine:
-Pitch selection, which is currently mostly cosmetics, if I understand correctly. If a pitcher throws a lot of sliders, that should reflect in his platoon split. And then, I have a pitcher who can throw triple digit heat but relies mostly on sinkers and cutters...
-Individual player range should actually affect the number of hits towards his position and maybe the neighboring ones, not to everywhere else. It's kind of hard to figure out how bad accepting a third baseman's *beep*ty range actually is for overall defense if that lack of range at 3B can actually lead to an increase in doubles to right field...
