Blockbuster trader just announced with the two teams I supposed (gotta have one for each league!) Bit of an odd move for both teams, I think I'd see the jays as the winner, although I'm wondering if they're going to flip Tulo for another player or 2 given their pitching needs, and have Goin's play a passable/mediocre defense. Great time of the year!

I've gotten into the habit of going to mlbtraderumors first thing when I get up, and wincing as the screen refreshes. I'd hoped the Jays would get through the deadline with both Norris and Hoffman still in the fold. Looks like no.

Reyes was a really fun to have on the team. Exciting baseball, and some real charm about him. (After Lawrie got traded, Reyes became my wife's favourite player). He was definitely slipping, and always one twist away from a couple weeks on the DL. Still, kind of sad to see him go.

This is the right kind of deal tho. This doesn't seem like the Jays season. Going all-in for a 1 off wild card birth doesn't seem good cost - benefit. This helps this season and sets the team up for the next couple (hopefully).

Probably a pitcher deal still coming. Somebody under control past this season. Cashner or Ross from the Padres?

Thought this article on Fangraphs analyzing the trade was interesting.

Likewise Seca, my daily routine starts with MLBTR, unfortunately the app keeps crashing on my phone so if there's any good headlines I have to get out of bed and go to the computer!

I like the trade from the Jays point of view - LH infield of Tulowitzki and Donaldson is damn near unbeatable, I'd wondered if they might flip Encarnacion for pitching, so that they have utilise the DH spot, and get Smoak and Colabello more regular AB's, he'd bring back a good SP, but with 10 and 5 rights I don't see it happening.
