I can't believe I've never looked at these teams, but players in the PAC-12 should not show up as League Level 1! I picked up a pitcher (and dropped one as a result, my two-time Cy Young winner at that) thinking he was from Legends. They need to get assigned as 7 or C(ollege) or * or P or anything but 1. What the heck!

Edit--And can you please explain what their purpose is? I'm super confused about what they're even doing here, how to compare, etc. My mind has been completely blown by this.

As I said in the other thread, they are test leagues, here are the urls:

Maple League

PAC-12

They are no secret and the players pass to and forth through the normal league structure. They are all bots except Steve's test team UCLA.

That doesn't mean they should have LL1. They need to have a special designator. Using 1 makes 0 sense.

It is a little confusing. Especially for new players.

I'm also curious about their salaries. My guess is they use Legends structure which is silly. They are basically LL6
Bot teams.

I don't think I've ever considered a PAC player. I've seen UCLA before, but always figured it was Steve's school and that he was having fun.

It really isn't too hard to pay attention to that to be honest. I'm more surprised you never clicked on UCLA and saw this league before since you say you've seen a player from it before. It doesn't make zero sense considering it is separate from the current league structure and only shares players from the free agent/draft pools. Steve said that these were test leagues years ago, but I think it was before threads could be bookmarked (or maybe I never thought this would be an issue and so I didn't bookmark it). I've bid on players from the PAC-12 before, but never actually won one, whether it is marked LL I or VI makes no difference considering you are always two clicks away from looking at the specific league and level of competition that he was playing against.

I've never had a problem with it (just picked up a UCLA cast-off myself) other than the blatant NCAA violation of a student athlete receiving a 10 million dollar salary :P

Newtman, you're being anal about it. You may look at the league a player and team's from, my guess is that I'm in the large majority that do not. I evaluate every player I put a claim on, but have never evaluated the league. I'd bet my hat most owners never check out specifics of the league. I'm sure many never even look at the full page on a player on waivers. However, it doesn't really matter who looks at what. Having the same league level designator as Legends is silly. They are not the same, but LL1 implies they are.

While the test leagues may not be a "secret," to my knowledge they aren't listed anywhere in the manual either. Your "point" that Steve mentioned them years ago somewhere is a preposterous one. Who cares? That obviously was seen by a tiny minority of owners.

It doesn't make zero sense considering it is separate from the current league structure...

Uh, you make a better point for clarifying the league level than defending it. As you said, it is separate! Therefore, it should have a unique identifier.

What's the harm in differentiating these test teams with an appropriate league level? Transparency?

Also, there should be something on the test league pages indicating they are what they are.

Says the person coming in here raging and saying it doesn't make any sense... I'm not being anal, you're just an @$$hole in otherwise civil discussions. The teams in the PAC-12 are pretty distinguishable other than Washington, as they use the initials of the PAC-12 schools. Maybe you just don't follow college sports.

Yeah but Newtman, other people don't follow college sports as well. And what about the maple league? While I've never condoned Mike's poor communication skills, I do agree with him on this issue. If we were to pole 100 newbies in the game I am sure more than half of them would have no idea what the Maple or PAC-12 leagues were. I've seen really bad PAC-12 players with 50+ claims because people thought the guy was a good performer at LL-1. Mike's guy was a 14 and only had 12 claims, so he's a bad example. But when a PAC-12 team drops a lousy 13 POT 24 year old, you'll often see a LOT of claims for a guy that isn't really very good.

Really I think it would make more sense if these leagues were denoted with an "M" and a "P" or "C" or something to make it clear they are coming from an external league.

As it is I feel like it is giving a slightly unfair advantage to more veteran players (except for Mike, LOL).

To be fair I'm not totally against the idea, the way I read it seemed demanding and as if the current system was somehow unfair. I agree Mike's idea would be an improvement, I just don't respect ideas that are presented in the form of demands. I'll entertain a bad idea presented politely and with respect before I'll entertain a good idea presented as if it must be implemented.

Lmao. Apparently I need to take your etiquette class because I don't think Miss Manners would be on your side regarding this thread.
I made comments about my suggestion and pointed out some of the flaws with the current listings of players. You used special characters, Qbert.

I, for one, always check to see what club a LL1 player comes from. Partly to see who the owner is if the player is from legends and to properly evaluate the player if he is from the pac-12. Pac-12 players are usually over priced. My guess is UCLA went bankrupt and that explains the recent availability of those players. While they aren't common, they certainly aren't a secret.
I think it would be great to give them a different level designation than 1. But the outrage associated with it surprised me. I guess I could understand that level of outrage if the misunderstanding was intentionally meant to be misleading.

UCLA is controlled by admin (Steve), I doubt Steve went bankrupt in his own game, but maybe.

Let's see. Newt was using words he couldn't even spell because he knew they were inappropriate. I say please explain...I'm confused...it blows my mind, and I'm the one raging? There was no outrage by me, not even when Newt swore at me. Apparently one needs to have a boring, generic, bland post to not get people up in arms. Or maybe I should try ending all posts with smiley faces or similar emoticons. Better yet, I'll no longer use periods☺ All punctuation will henceforth be replaced with happy symbols😘 Happy Valentine's Day😍

If you are truly confused then that is sad. It means you are probably like that in real life as well. There isn't really anything anyone can do for you if you don't even understand that you are socially awkward. But yes, if you attempted to make your posts "bland" it would probably go a long way towards helping.

What can I do to join your clique? I'm so jealous.

Have you noticed that the majority of your (that's plural) comments are attacks against me instead of having any relevance to the suggestion? Strange. You know why? Because you hate to admit I'm right. Did you forget what this thread is about?

The test leagues should have a league level that diffentiates them from the rest of the teams.

It would also be helpful if there was some mention of them in the manual.

I think I almost died of laughter when I read this😘 For trying to put down another player, I thought this was quite humorous😘

Regarding the highly blown out of proportion issue we're discussing here, I don't think it would be a bad idea to begin treating those two leagues as level 6 teams with a special denotation on player pages😘 However, I consider this to be a very minor issue and not critical to the game's enjoyment😘 I discovered the PAC-12 league within two weeks of signing up😘

And by the way Mike, Newt was really trying to have a civilized conversation until you were rude to him😘

First off, I should apologize, I'm sorry. I was having a rough afternoon when I made that comment (not that it makes it right). Secondly what specifically bugged me was the first sentence, "players in the PAC-12 should not show up as League Level 1!" That is an exclamation point, and sounds very much like a demand rather than a suggestion which usually ends in my experience with a period. Additionally, "They need to get assigned as 7 or C(ollege) or * or P or anything but 1. What the heck!" The word "need" implies something must be done, and the further exclamation at the end though devoid of curse words was something I'd expect more after a pennant run collapses rather than after a player doesn't seem to be panning out after a few starts and was not from the league that someone thought they were from. I will admit, the "Edit" section is much more polite, and to your credit you never went back to ninja edit things even after I confronted you, but the first few sentences did not read as polite to me. Fortunately, you only have to convince Steve, as my opinion really doesn't matter. I don't know how to make all those smilies, though I will add one I do know at the end here :)

Edited to expand on the apology.

To be clear, in what I think should be my final post on this thread, I support the idea of changing the PAC-12 and Maple league designations, though I think the best solution if it can be done (if the database entry is not marked numerals only) would be Rock's alteration of

"M" and a "P" or "C"

. Otherwise bumping it down to a lower level would work, though I think that could get confusing for different reasons, which are unimportant and irrelevant.

I'm sorry if I offended anyone. I was attempting to explain why I thought 1 wasn't a good league level for the test leagues, but apparently some of my comments were off the mark and hit unintended targets. My bad. I don't have any ill will toward anyone here.
Regarding my exclamation points and such, it was meant to show my surprise that I had played for a year and a half and had never seen or heard anything about the testies. 😶😶 (Sorry, I couldn't pass up the juvenile humor.)
Peace, bros.

I'll look into reassigning them a different league level. When the game started, the all bot leagues are pretty competitive...but they've fallen off a bit.

I too agree that the "test leagues" should not list the players as Level one on the player cards

Leach
Even knowing he was from a test league, I was impressed by his offensive numbers and was willing to cough up 15 million salary for his salary. What a big disappointment he turned out to be

Showing TEST or even PAC12/CAN12 will be very beneficial for everyone, especially new owners
