If that 2B doesn't have a backup for him, the computer chooses the best available player, which is usually not the most preferred choice by a human.

admin Joined: 01/27/2010 Posts: 4985 Administrator	I'm confused. If you want a specific player to replace an injured 2B, you list him on the line-up page. If not, you're allowing the computer to do it. For your suggestion, how is the management page option different than listing a player on the line-up page? Steve

Garnash1970 Joined: 08/07/2014 Posts: 199 Inactive	Because it doesn't happen that way. The AI cbooses the best bat, it seems, and NOT the replacement that we select. If it did just THAT, nobody would be complaining. Happens all the time. For example, my starting C gets pulled for ph in the ninth ... the AI selects a LH OF to PH instead of the C that's available, because the backup C has a HIT of 12 and OF is 16. So now, I have a lefty catching with a 12 arm in the bottom of the ninth. Can be really frustrating. Sorry, on rereading the original post, I'm addressing the PH/defensive replacement. Pinch Hitter - for key at-bat during the game and player selection is based on offensive ability. 2. Pinch Runner - for key at-bat during the game and player selection is based on running ability. 3. Defensive Replacement - late game replacement based on defensive ability. 4. Upgrading - replacement of position players based overall value at that position. This happens a lot when the pitcher switches from LH to RH or vice versa. Steve

Pig_Cola Joined: 09/15/2013 Posts: 1445 Glendale Marshals III.2	In this game http://brokenbat.org/game/2297358, my 2B, Masahito Matsuda was injured and http://brokenbat.org/player/91195 was the 2B for the game. He has poor fielding and would've not been my choice to play 2B. My choice would've been http://brokenbat.org/player/99482, which has better fielding. My idea is to put a drop down menu next to every player's name in the management page and if they don't have a backup for them, another player that we choose can play for them when they're injured.
