Here's one idea: At the start of each season, X amount of money would be deducted from the finances of any team wishing to augment its scouting network. The money would be a one-time seasonal payment, and would cover all 8 drafts. In return, the teams participating would have a pool of 15 (instead of 10) prospects to choose from in each of the 8 draft cycles. Teams not participating would still have pools of 10 prospects (like they do now). Participation costs would occur on a sliding scale, with higher-tier teams paying more: Legends: 9 million II: 8 million III: 7 million IV: 6 million V: 5 million VI: 4 million This option would also give higher-tier teams with huge bankrolls the opportunity to actually spend some of their large stashes of cash. In addition, it would lessen some of the "total dumb luck" in each team's drafting. |
