peculiar game for the Mules today.

15 runs scored, on only 7 hits!
must be a record.

However,
I'm wondering why the opposing SP was pulled after 2 outs in the 2nd:
if he reached the threshold for the Hook setting, why did he pitch in the 2nd at all?

15 runs on 7 hits doesn't seem that unusual to me. :) Around here anyway.

I was curious if anyone else saw something.

- not hook; no runners on or runs surrendered that inning
- not pitch count; at 40, 75 min
- not relief pitcher availability; would trip at the beginning of the inning

So I guess a bug?

My only guess would be in Castro was a LR brought in to pitch because the starter was injured? Still seems like a bug if he was pulled before 75.

Either that or Steve has implement in-game minor injuries...

it begs a further question:
does the Game Engine ever change?
are we notified if it does?

It looks like the SP hit its hook number.

The game engine does change when needed. Sometime pitcher give up a lot of runs and get pulled in the 2nd inning.

But why was he replaced after two batters instead of right at the start? It looks like he could have hit his hook in the 1st inning. Kind of would of expected him to come out in the 1st. But then came into the 2nd, got two outs, and was hooked. Is there a minimum # of pitches before hooks kick in for starters?

Or maybe the game had fallen into the "lost cause" logic until after that second out?

maybe there's a L/R hitter logic at play here?

I'm under the impression that, all setting being equal, if I have one LHP and one RHP as Middle reliever, Set Up, or even LR, they will be used according to the opponent's hitter

Top 2nd: Lahaina
Castro takes the mound to pitch.
Guzman grounds to short stop. Guzman is thrown out at first by San Agustin.
Barrios grounds to third base. Barrios is thrown out at first by Dimas.
Levine comes in to pitch.
Crosby grounds to first base. Crosby is thrown out at first by Fingers.

Castro is a RHP
Guzman and Barrios are RHH
Crosby is LHH
Levine is LHP

the substitution would make sense if - by the custom settings - there was no RHP available to play before the 3rd inning, amd
Levine was the only RP available to play, and he was restricted to avoid any RHH

that would compute!

That makes sense.
