Includes a lot of career years for guys that have played mostly at lower levels. Starters - CF Louie Evans - No shock here, as Louie makes his 11th consecutive ASG. He's back to his MVP contender status too, which he won 4 consecutive years but hasn't won in 5 seasons. AT 33 years old he's still our best player. 2B/LF Joaquin Guzman - After a very poor season last year, Guzman has returned to form and made his 3rd ASG at 28 years old. His power has been a huge boon. RF Javier Castillo - A former 1st round pick of Provo, Castillo is a post-hype prospect on his 3rd team. At age 27, in his 5th season, he's finally made good on his potential. Bench - 1B Alonzo Lira - At 31 years old, Lira is having the best season of his career by far. The speed is gone, but his power and patience have both made great improvements. This is his second ASG. 1B/DH D'Andre Behrens - Behrens is in his 8th organization, including the famous Novi Doubledays. He was picked off waivers to fill a hole in the lineup against lefties, and has done that incredibly well, making his first ASG despite only having 104 at-bats!!! He's a platoon bat who should be seeing some more time versus righties in the second half. Pitchers - SP Edgar Clark - At 32 years old, our former top prospect and rookie of the year has finally made his first ASG. His career has been kind of a disappointment honestly, and judging by FIP this season is mostly luck. Still a cool story. SP Grant Hoyle - Hoyle makes his 4th ASG with another fine showing at age 30. He's been our most dependable starter throughout the decade. |

If that effect exists the introduction of coaches could emphasize it even more. Not surprised to see a team with guys like Lira and Behrens doing well. I am surprised Presque Isle has only made 46 errors. You have a 14 field lower case SS and a 0 (0!) fielding manager. Was there even a drop of rain in New England in the first half? Dinos decision to claim and develop Kang last year pretty much sunk 2052. Kang had a 6.33 ERA in 21 starts, and we ultimately finished 2nd 2 games back. Nice to see the decision paying some dividends this season. Kang with a great first half and named Eastern starter for the AS game. Waterloo with a strong first half. But I'm sure I'll find this year's Kang soon enough. |

Managers are annoying enough. For what it's worth, I'm making a change at shortstop for the second half, going with Franklin against righties. Shorstop is going to keep being a disaster until Hodgson finally arrives. |

RHP lineup mostly in the .250-.300 range, which is good enough to start working on, and there are a select few not awful juniors in the pipelines. Good luck to everyone fighting for promotion / against relegation, and see you folks in the 2054 thread! |
