Seca Joined: 05/05/2014 Posts: 5199 Waterloo Dinosaurs Legends | Not adding to the diamonds in the rough part, but I’m entering my 35th season with the Dinos, and the team has won a total of 2 MVP awards during that time (Larsen and McCarty). Two MVP awards for Ortega is quite an accomplishment! |

atomic Joined: 12/05/2012 Posts: 82 Sunnyvale Rebels II.2 | The story of your Alonzo Ortega reminds me of the one of Tom Brady in RL. As far as I see he already had hitting of 13 at the time of the draft, plus the outlook that he can be a very good hitter. I guess I wouldn't have drafted him because I mostly have no space in my minors after the 3rd or 4th round and because there might be a higher potential on my list than 12. I would have been afraid that his potential would hinder him to reach much higher hitting. In the end we see he reached the max of 20! Really nice! That makes me hope my original POT 8 prospect will really make it to the majors one day: https://brokenbat.org/player/267942 He just got his second potential upgrade this offseason. |
