Homegrown 29 year old Ted Scanlon has one of the craziest salary histories I've ever seen.

42' - 0.50M (.569 OPS in 41')
43' - 1.55M (.680 OPS in 42')
44' - 0.90M (.679 OPS in 43')
45' - 2.90M (.749 OPS in 44')
46' - 1.10M (.702 OPS in 45')
47' - 2.05M (.497 OPS in 46')

What could possibly justify doubling his salary after hitting .497 OPS last season...? Just the unhealthy desire of the AI to continue the wavelike structure of his salary?

EDIT: One thing I failed to mention. Scanlon plays SS normally, but had an OF role in 43 and 45. Playing the OF apparently really tanked his salary. Still, no one hitting under .500 OPS is worth 2M.

That's an interesting example. I actually expected it would select a player's position by cumulative over 3 seasons rather than the most recent.

Dinos are head scratching over Velez's pay raise. Not that 0.65 mill is crippling or anything. Just seems weird he could parlay his 2046 into a bump when a guy like Stafford has never blipped above league minimum.

Edit: It's probably also b/c of position. Still seems a little suspect.

I bet position did play a role. If Scanlon can double his salary demands to 2 million after hitting a sub .500 OPS... I think just playing SS earns you bank.

I think there is also a little bit of RND involved as well with salaries. Which is probably appropriate.

Actually, that also coincides. After playing OF in 43' he had more time in the OF total. After playing SS in 44' has had more total time at SS. And so on. So the individual years in OF also coincide with shifts in the 3 year average.

Lesson learned. If you pick up a FA demanding a ridiculous salary, put him in the OF ;)
