I still have problems with 2B. With the new inability to retrain most players (due to limited time in the minors), its nice to be able to get players who already have experience playing 2B.

However I agree that I frequently see guys who have no business playing 2B. Last round I picked 2B, and didn't draft a single playing in the 2nd round. Only two of the guys had more than 13 Range. Three players had single digit Range... I'd still like to see some form of templatting used for primary positions.

Not great. Like Rock said I find position specific drafting fairly lacking. If you’re just looking to find a 3B, I like his older idea of picking from the 1B pool and look for a right handed thrower with decent fielding and an arm.

I personally would only draft position specific if it was the later rounds and I had a dire organizational need. Just ride the waiver wire to find replaceable starters and the draft is a lottery to find elite talent.

I've had 1 specific position actually fit that position(2B). I'll usually draft OF and then train the player for an INF position. I've lots of success that way

I haven't drafted specific position except for pitcher in a while. I found the variance to be very wide on the ability of the players in the pools to actually be able to play said position.

I never draft pitchers. Way too easy to find quality pitchers sitting in Waivers or FA.

You can build a staff of Tanner Roarks that way.

But if you want a Gerritt Cole you should probably draft a P every once in a while. :)

I have high quality pitchers on my team that I picked off waivers with almost no competition.

Of course if I'm drafting out of a non-position-specific pool and a POT 14 pitching shows up, I'm not going to bypass him ;)

I pretty much agree with Rock, it's not too hard to go out and find serviceable pitchers. I feel like your hand has to be forced when deciding to draft a pitcher, but at the same time there are reasons to do it. These are the kinds I'm thinking:
http://brokenbat.org/player/217746
http://brokenbat.org/player/234416
http://brokenbat.org/player/213775
http://brokenbat.org/player/257530

All potential starters, high POT, plus high marks on their Velo or breaking balls ("strike out", "exceptional" etc...)

I think I specifically went into the pitcher pool here and there in 2041/2042, but now I just do HS and make someone stand out. The last 3 were all HS/college pool standouts I believe. I think DeLong was a pitcher only pool selection, as I really wanted to add some depth and got really lucky there.

Little note on Reynoso, he's definitely the lowest prospect of the bunch, but the NP's on that board were lackluster, so he got the nod. I have another guy, Burgos, but he was a 2041 draft choice and I was kind of feeling the game out still. Burgos can make them whiff but he gives up a lot of long balls.

Back in 2041, I had some good luck drafting 3B.

Last couple times I tried 3B ... seeing a lot of L/L ...
"What the actual F"
... never hitter / amazing fielder / 11 range / 10 arm ... ok

Left handed infielder ... being stupid

Did I pick a Dawg ?
His stats and scouting smelled ok compared to the rest of the board.
