This guy was my first player chosen as owner of my team. He seems to be doing decent as a reliever.

Nice idea for a thread.

I joined May 11, 2017. My first day, I drafted Lucas Van Dam, who never made it, and I signed Kaz Egawa as a free agent, because I was obsessed with power early on. I'm surprised to see Egawa is still playing, though his batting average suggests he shouldn't be.

Bradley Repetto was my first waiver wire pickup and he was a stud for me. But I couldn't afford to keep him, his salary demands were too high for a bad LL6 team.

My first successful waiver claim was for a stop-gap reliever. He only stayed on my roster for the completion of that first season and was barely fair. My very first addition, though, was a pretty decent college draftee arm. He wasn't fantastic, but a career of 116-88 with a 3.82 ERA is solid. His sophomore season was either his best or second best, as he went 18-9 in Level 4 with a 3.15 ERA and 1.182 WHIP earning him an All Star appearance. He's probably the best LHP I've had.

First acquisition was Gonzalez, who as you can see didn't stick around long.

My first claim win was a whopping 52 claim starting pitcher, Pate, who's still starting for me 1.5 seasons later.

My first draft pick was Marcel Groot, who was only not immediately cut because I didn’t know what I was doing yet. My first free agent signing was Alejandro Herrera, who turned out to be a serviceable reliever and decent-ish closer while I figured the game out. Carson Ingle is the earliest pickup I made who’s still with the organization, currently anchoring center field.

I signed/claimed 5 guys on the same day. Most notable was a 21 year old Norm "The Paradox" Parodi who is still pitching for Haverhill 14 seasons later.

First pick-up in Raleigh didn't ever play, Sam Mills. Though the third draft pick was Cunningham.
First pick-up in the game was Aaron Roberts when I owned the then Kingsfort Hills Bulldogs.

These two were my first two non drafted players. Bauer was my set up man during his time with Oshkosh.

I joined BB just as the 2030 season was about to start. My 1st round, first ever, pick had a scouting report of "he has above average overall potential". That's all. Needless to say, a Pot 10 that I held on to for 15 days before finally releasing. Of my 10 picks, I had two 10's, five 11's, two 12's and a 13, who is still in my minors. Year 1 was a learning curve because my top 4 picks of next year's draft (and the only ones still on my roster from that year) went 14, 14, 12, 14.

My first waiver claim was this guy, and I had the only claim. I regretted it immediately because he had a big price tag and I wasn't allowed to release him for 30 days. I kept him and he did alright for me and is still in the league!

With Boston my first pickup was a draft pick in the 6th round - on game time June 25th 2032.

-- not much of a player so he was quickly cut.
