While doing this, i found my best draft year was without doubt 2018, my second year in this game. In those old times there were less active owners (so was easier to draft good players in late rounds) plus only 5 players in the pool, so more luck involved. Heck, even potential was not displayed and you have to manually count little squares in player page anyway, i kept the following players 1st round - Curley 2nd round - Perkens 3rd round - Palacios 4th round - Bell 6th round - Rivas 9th round - Esposito 10th round - McGuire 2 sure hall of famers (Curley and Rivas), 1 borderline HOFer(Perkens), 1 reliable SS for years (Palacios), 1 reliable Loogy (Bell), they are so rare, plus a decent reliever (Esposito) and a reliable back of the rotation guy (McGuire). I've been lucky with draft in years, and i really can't complain, but i haven't had a draft like this since then and probably will never have anymore. I was wondering if any of you had a great draft year like Roanoke 2018. |

I think my best draft year was 2025. In that year I drafted three franchise corner stones (Mateo Amaya, Dan Tosolini, Xavier Carrillo) and a staple of my bullpen (Mongkut Sakda). http://brokenbat.org/player/118637 http://brokenbat.org/player/119303 http://brokenbat.org/player/119822 http://brokenbat.org/player/120910 All of these guys are pretty young, so I cant yet say if they are HOFers of not. However the 2026 draft class is a close second and if those guys perform well they just might unseat 2025. (P.S. how do you put the links in the players names?) |

Odd-numbered years haven't nearly as good (2027 - 3, 2029 - 1, 2031 - 0!). 2026 was my first draft, and I blew my first round pick on a need (11 POT 2B, cut) without reading the rules. So its pretty amazing that 7 of the other 9 are still playing, 5 of them on my team. Round 2 - Torres. 13 POT, LANCER Round 3 - Johnson. 13 POT, LANCER Round 4 - Kobayashi. Round 5 - Miranda. 14 POT LANCER Round 7 - Suzuki. 14 POT LANCER Round 9 - Polk. 12 POT Round 10 - Moran. 12 POT LANCER My Round 8 pick was Rosario, a decent 13 POT C prospect for that stage of the draft, but I didn't have any room for him after I landed Moran in the 10th. 2x 14 POT, 4x 13 POT (one of whom, Kobayashi, went up to 14 POT and then came back down) and 2x decent 12 POT. Not bad at all. Torres came up this year, bit of a homer-prone lefty pitcher but will get better. Johnson is one of my top 3 starters who never seems to get much luck but is pretty reliable. Kobayashi I would have liked to make my SS but he was called up too quick for that, and with no bat I didn't want him anywhere else. Miranda might never hit enough but he's a decent 4th OF/backup 1B. Suzuki will be my SS next season or 2034. Polk is nothing special but he's played five seasons. Moran is a project as a lefty-throwing catcher, but a switch-hitting great hitter with a 19 Arm (at the time, 18 now) in the 10th round? Yes please! In 2028 and 2030 I drafted 15-POT/14-POT/14-POT with my 1-2-3 picks. In 2028 they were three pitchers (and I landed another in the 6th, three of them are in the majors now), and in 2030 it was 2B, P, SS. Three players of 14-POT/13-POT/13-POT in rounds 1-2-4 this season. But can't top 2026 for quantity! |

Bagley and Booth are 2 of the 3 14+ pot pitchers I've drafted. Next best would probably be 2028 where I kept 4 including Eaton and Roy. And while its too early to evaluate that class, there is no way they will be as good as 2020. Updated Friday, July 21 2017 @ 5:16:21 pm PDT |
