Pitcher award goes surprisingly to Bill McQueen. This lefty screwballer was on the verge of cut last season, but now he's stepped up his game and put some respectable numbers: 8-4 win-loss record with 2.86 ERA in 110 innings at AA level. Hitter award goes to Jesse Hunter, but solely on his run production. He batted in 93 runs and hit 28 home runs between AA and AAA levels, despite that he's still pretty lazy in training and doesn't make the best of his talent. I hope this award will motivate him further. Updated Saturday, October 24 2015 @ 9:04:57 am PDT |

Only concern is that he's a bit slow in gaining SI. As for pitchers, as always my minor league numbers are horrible, the only one worth of mention is Cardenal. Even if he's 24, he's only in AA and will pass 2025 in the minors before being promoted. Still, a good season for him. |

For hitters, award goes surprisingly to Benavides, our future DH, who drove in 95 runs, scored 97 and grabbed 39 bases in full AA season. He even had 12 outfield assists. Keep up the good work lad, we rated you higher for his year than our top 15 and 14 potential prospects For pitchers it's a coin toss between our September callup Merrill and O'Reilly. They have different duties, but after some consideration, I let the stats speak for themselves. O'Reilly is our only pitcher that had sub 3.00 ERA throughout the whole year, and he gave up only one homerun in 120 innings. Especially that last stat is impressive and wins him the award. Nevertheless, my minor league rookie of the year is Pineda, who has done a solid job in AA to the tune of a .305/.381/.530 line while also stealing 77 bases. Nobody on the pitching side really warrants a mention. In fact, only one player had a sub-4.00 ERA as my minor league pitchers struggled as a whole. |

Now top five, but proved himself to have the best year in the minor leagues. 17-year-old first baseman Don Amato also proved himself to deserve an honorable mention, and would have likely won the award had he been drafted before the year started or early on. MiLB Pitcher of the Year: RHP Ed Osbourne, 23, AA 10-9, 4.00 ERA, 166 K, 13 QS This was a particularly tighter race as no one stood out, but Osbourne had tied for the lead for wins and was far ahead of anyone else in strikeouts while still having a respectable ERA. His FIP is 3.69, suggesting he may have been more dominant than his ERA had indicated. Hopefully we can get him up to AAA and the bigs sooner than later. |

It remains to be seen if that's for better or worse but here's who I choose for my top MiLB players of the year. Guillermo Narvaez - IF (Rookie) http://brokenbat.org/player/112311 He was one of my first pickups the day I took over the team. He hit .348/7 HR/95 RBI in 124 games. Needs work in the field though. Alfredo Saldana - P (AA) http://brokenbat.org/player/95396 When I took over the team, he was the Closer for the major league team. Dropped him to AA where he is 12-3/1.90 ERA/.863 WHIP in 165+ innings. Future ace of the staff. Updated Sunday, October 25 2015 @ 12:23:24 pm PDT |
