Anyone else surprised by someone that made it to the free agent list?

I thought Chad would draw some interest.

Almost tempted to resign him and let Dan spend a season in CF.

$4m for an ok fielding right handed hitting ss,who may have hit well due to his level (showing 10 hitting skill). It would have to be a league 6 team with plenty of money and no younger/ less expensive option.

He performed pretty well at LL 5, but he is definitely over the hill (lots of down arrows). He doesn't really have the defensive build for a SS (maybe he did before his decline), which means you're playing him at 1B. Most teams at LL 5 or 6 are going to have a (cheaper) young promising slugger lined up at 1B. The reason you dropped him is no doubt the reason no one picked him up.

Flip-side of the Burke thread ...
I'd say his performance looks like he was under-scouted.

He doesn't really have the defensive build for a SS

Go search for 12 field/range/arm SS to get an idea of what 75% of the game has for options.

The reason you dropped him is no doubt the reason no one picked him up.

and like I said ... the reason I dropped him was Dan

Looks like Bartlett has a ride for this season. Or at least an opportunity.

The key to flip-siding Burke is the salary. If Burke had a 4 million price tag, he would not have garnered near that level of interest. If Bartlett's history of production came under 1 million, someone would have picked him up earlier.

Salary is the major thing, but there is also a pretty heavy age bias when recruiting new players. A lot of folks wouldn't even look at a 32 year old.

I picked Chad up for a safety net at ss. I am trying to move Zhang to ss, but he is not adjusting well. If Zhang does adjust to ss then Chad will be a good dh for my level.
