http://brokenbat.org/player/105776 for me - 17y.o. 13 Pot pitcher - gotta be worth a crack - envious of Yuri's pull though!

Paz may not be bad himself, but he probably doesn't measure up to the guy I let go.

Slugfest, with low stamina and very low defensive values, Paz is probably going to be better than a lot of the POT 13 guys who are on the market. I wouldn't be to quick to ditch him just because of the POT 11.

The guy you released was a 33 yo with below-average ability. Paz isn't going to contribute this year, but he definitely has more upside than a 33 yo.

All true. The big problem with Paz is his age / league level.

Minor leagues is all about return on investment. The longer they are in your system, the better the product should be.

Paz is 18 in Rookie ball. Looking at ~5-6 seasons before he pitches in the majors. That's a big investment for a pitcher with limited potential - even if he is a good limited potential pitcher.

Yeah he is a little old for where his SI is at right now. Still, a lot of people want to throw a guy out when they see 11 POT, but Paz is a good example of a guy whose actual potential is pretty good. Hard to say he is worse than a 33 yo who can't really hold his own at the major level.

Ehh, Slugfest wasn't talking about any 33 year olds, he was talking about another youngster he skipped on the draft in favor of Paz.

Yuri is right, I was talking about a guy I could have drafted. Also, I am most certainly not releasing Paz, just mourning the other guy. Probably silly worrying anyway since I'll never see or at least recognize the other guy anyway.

I see. I misunderstood. Well look on the bright side. The other guy may have been worse.

My roster is full and I've been having a difficult time deciding which guys to cut. Then I had to make sure I didn't get any of the big four waiver claims tonight. Struck out there, which was no surprise, but this was. A leftie hitting infielder. Sweet.
