afreespirit Joined: 09/17/2011 Posts: 305 Inactive	How are league MVPs chosen? The reason I ask is because the player chosen for MVP in my league seems less deserving than a player on my team. Here is the league MVP http://brokenbat.org/player/7361 from the east division winners. And here is my player http://brokenbat.org/player/3819 from the west division winners. Here are the league leaders http://brokenbat.org/league_leaders/61/2008 Both players are excellent shortstops and everyday players on division winners. Montgomery appears on five of the top ten lists while Arroyo appears only on one. Arroyo won the stolen base title (87) while Montgomery finished 4th in avg(.325), 3rd in runs(122), 4th in rbi(130), 2nd in obp(.418) and 10th in ops(.949). So are stolen bases really that significant? Even if being a prolific base stealer does not result in scoring more runs (Arroya managed 105).

admin Joined: 01/27/2010 Posts: 4985 Administrator	I will look into it. The formula for determining the MVP is roughly equal to total bases with walks slightly discounted and some credit given for RBIs. So a stolen bases is roughly equal to a hit. Steve

Erkuza Joined: 05/08/2012 Posts: 137 Inactive	The MVP system is definitely flawed. It looks like Stolen bases make a huge difference on who is going to win it. This is the player who won the mvp in my league http://brokenbat.org/player/4604 This is the player who I thought deserved it. http://brokenbat.org/player/4604 He lead the league in OBP and OPS and the MVP didn't even crack the top 10 in any of those.
