I'm a little confused.

There's a direct connection between these 2 values? Because i have in my minors one "good" prospect with 14 bars potential and some other guys with "very good" potential that are projected with 13 bars (new guy from the draft even 12).

I think they are more an assessment of the likelihood of them reaching their maximum potential, though I didn't think you could get a very good 12. I assume their is also a range good/very good/average can fall in that overlaps.

Three of my best hitters are Pot 12:
Payne http://brokenbat.org/player/76042
Colombo http://brokenbat.org/player/64800
Quinones http://brokenbat.org/player/65105

As you can see, they are AllStar hitters, high OBP guys Payne even won a Gold Glove.
As I understand it SI is the average of all 8 skills of that player, when fully developed.
Which means trained at the proper level in the minors, and an adequate amount of ML experience ( I estimate 1,000ABs)
IE: SI 96-103 = POT 12 (96 / 8 = 12) ; POT 13= SI 104-111

IMHO, the description " very good " etc are releated to SOME of the skills, not all of them. Which ones... it's up to you to find out ;)

I believe the scouting words can lie. I don't know if the potential bars can lie. I would like to know.

When I added a player today I saw:

He can be a very good hitter.

Sounds good. Keep talking.

He can develop into an above average slugger.

Alright. What else?

He has decent speed.

This is getting interesting.

He can be outstanding in the field.

This guy is going to be great! Hey! What does that say down there?

He has above average overall potential.

Huh? How can he have all that stuff and be above average potential?

Since everything else looks very bad, I give him a try and get:

with 13 blocks of potential!

He's gonna be an EXCEPTIONAL SS
A good contact hitter, with avg power and no plate discipline
Avg speed as well

I'd like to have him.
Then again I prefer high OBP guys, so I'm pretty happy with my current SS http://brokenbat.org/player/83936 McDaniel

Haha. I was not trying to brag about my player. I would think his BC and PD would be 0 except they are already better.

Was agreeing with first poster that words and bars don't always agree.

I have the same problem with Carl Pratt.

He's the only guy with above average potential in my minors, and i don't know if i should cut him or keep him, because he's gonna be a decent player at least.

Unless you have somebody better behind him, I'd keep him Favuz. Looks like he'll be a great defensive player with power who can also back up at SS in a pinch. Worst case, he's your #1 backup in the outfield. I could see him starting at CF in a lower league and doing good work there.
