Hi guys,
maybe this a topic already discussed.
Anyway, i would like to know whether there are:

- a correlation between pitch types and batting outcomes generated from LHH and RHH (e.g.: changeup effective against opposite handed and slider against same handed);

- a correlation between repertoire and likelihood for a pitcher to be a starter or a reliever

At this point in time, the pitch types/pitcher repertoire are mostly for entertainment purposes. Currently, the game engine doesn't having hanging curve balls that are hit for home runs or guys that are great fastball hitters, but can't hit the curve.

That's not to say that we wouldn't eventually implement this kind of depth...but its just not in the code right now.

But is the pitch type used for each pitch? In othe r words, does the game engine determine pitch type for each pitch and then based on the pitch type refers to a skill of the pitcher in that particular pitch? So for example a pitcher having fastball and change up will throw both, with some given frequency, and when throwing fastballs his velocity will impact the result while his CoS will impact when he throws the changeup?

Also, on a slightly different note, if this is the case, does velocity affect non fastball pitches? Or say movement affect a cutter to some extent, even if for the cutter the main skill would still be the fastball?

Yes, the game engine uses the pitcher's Pitch Repertoire to pick the pitch type. But, at this time, if a pitcher throws a fastball versus a curve ball, the probable outcome isn't any different.

Thanks. So just to be sure, the pitching attributes impact the outcome like for example strike probability or something independently on the pitch thrown. They however influence the outcome differently from one another

Just wondering if anyone can confirm this information is still relevant ie pitch type still has no effect on result and hasn’t been coded in to engine as yet.

Steve hasn't said anything, so I assume they still have no impact on game play.
