I have failed utterly in the last 3 season to find a CF who can at some point replace Shockley. Especially since he can bat in all lineups: Minimally I would like a strong hitter who has minimum 12/16/12. However if I used someone already in house, there is:

Against RHP (Great hit - poor arm)

Against LHP (average hit - 15 rng)

Switch hitting: (average hit - poor field)

Sign someone like this: (10 Fld - K's a lot)

Note that by the time I cant play him in CF anymore, some of these guys may be 30-31 themselves. I have no one in the minors but 18 year olds who could possibly play center.

I do think you should look external. Murillo is nice as a 4th OF. Can back up every position in both lineups. A little vanilla to play everyday.

I feel that in center you can cheat arm a little (if you have to) but you don't want to skimp on range.

Matsui played left for us for a while. We had to move him to center despite a bit of a noodle arm. The pitching did fine during his tenure. (His range has dropped from his peak).

So I'd be ok with Arriaga in CF, especially if you found someone for LF that could really hit. See what comes your way. Dinos got Huerta unopposed this season - prototypical CF. They do pass through waivers every once in a while.

I signed long-shot "younger vanilla"

I am not wild about GB hitters with little power but I am not completely against them either. I like switch hitters, as long as LHP arent their dominant side. Who knows? Maybe he overshoots his hitting and gets his 13 POT back.

Its not like Shockley ever had amazing visible hitting tools 16/14/11/8, so you never know who can be that guy.

I agree with everything Seca said. Range is King. Having a little Fielding at CF doesn't hurt, but I think people over-value it. Farris is a little low on Range, but I wouldn't hate having him for vLHP only if you need a vLHP guy.
