Broken Bat Baseball
Hi! I need a little help with figuring out my roster spots and my young players/veterans.

I have two players to call up

http://brokenbat.org/player/243394
OF/1B could be a good overall hitter
http://brokenbat.org/player/252133
2B/SS don't know what his ceiling is for the hitting stat but there's so much room for his other tools at 15POT i see a future star

Here are the young players I currently have at the major league level

http://brokenbat.org/player/234433
Developing as a 1B/OF
http://brokenbat.org/player/223661
A nice 2B who is performing better than any other young player called up; but Vasquez is clearly the better long term option

http://brokenbat.org/player/234175

Good fielder, questionable offensive potential, would like for him to play more SS if not for defense it would be an easy cut.

Currently on the team to be a back-up catcher production has surprised me in that role but Grasso (still in minors) might be better

http://brokenbat.org/player/238233
When I said Emmons was performing better than any other young player, I forgot about Borrego here because hes already established himself as a great player in my eyes. He is currently a SS/2B. But I want him at 1B/DH or maybe outfield. He's not bad for 2B but there are better defensive options.

I like him at 3B more than SS. I'm leaning toward cutting him because of lackluster offesnive skillset. But between him and Collazo the defense is so good I want a second opinion before cutting bait.

Won the rookie of the year with a decent season last season. K to Walk ratio is ridiculously bad. Playing atrocious this year but is still young and there might be some bat control points left in his potential to improve hitting

Out of these players which two do you think are the biggest cuts. If theres a veteran on my team you believe should be let go then let me know. All of them are absolutely crushing either one or both handed pitching this year and i want to try to avoid relegation although my pitching might make that tough (whole other thread). Most of the young guys are not performing right now so i am looking for the ones that have the best future.

I wouldn't rush Vázquez. He hasn't done very well in AAA. With no Hitting report he'll probably never be great, but more time in AAA wouldn't hurt. I'd also focus on one position. He has a bit to go for either 2B or SS. Given his range, my preference would be 2B, but it depends on your needs.

Emmons has looked pretty solid so far. I think its ok if you want to try Vázquez out at 2B in the future. But I wouldn't drop Emmons. Leaving Vázquez down for a bit would give Emmons more time to mature in the majors. I'm not sure Vázquez is the better long term option here. You might be better off training Vázquez at SS.

If Collazo had experience at SS, I think he would be a solid SS option. Especially given his platoon strength against righty pitchers. I don't think his offense is a concern. As it is though, he doesn't have much position experience. That means he will be a liability in the field. If you don't mind having a leaky sieve at SS for 3-4 seasons, then he could be a productive SS for the following 3-4 seasons. Only a good trade if you are in rebuilding mode.

Not a big fan of Grasso or Hawkins offensively, but they are both good Arms. Grasso seems to have a pretty strong platoon split. So you might need a guy like Hawkins to fill in against LHP after Zuniga retires.

I'm not seeing a lot of upside with Esquivel. He might work out ok, but again... no Hitting report :(

Moretti doesn't look much more promising. So if you like Esquivel better, minds well get him up now.

I'd agree about Borrego. Great hitter. Probably would have been best in the OF, but might be a headache to retrain at this point.

I'm not a big fan of Emerson or Collazo. Collazo has the better defensive build, and the ability to hit righties. But his lack of position knowledge is a killer. I think your best bet is to put Vázquez at SS. Emmons is too good to sit over these other two. If one of these two (Emerson or Collazo) has to fill in at 3B, it minds well be the guy who already knows the position.

Martin looks ok. I'm not a big fan of guys with low Contact (Bat Control). They tend to be very streaky.

I would say that Emerson and Collazo are the easiest cuts. You do still have Hawkins to back up 3B. Moretti is also an easy cut if you think Esquivel will take his place anyhow.

Appreciate the help! I already cut Emerson and I have Vasquez at SS for now. What do you think is the best case for his hitting stat cap? My hope is that he has so much room to grow that his BC and PD as well as Power should be very high so that if he can reach 12 or 13 Hit he can still have good enough production. I do have other prospects at 1B/OF for if Morretti and Esquivel dont pan out. So that might not be too bad

I could see him getting to 12 or 13. Although I do think its still a bit early to promote him given he hasn't done great in AAA and he has been there for less than 1 year.

So as expected, Esqueviel has not been able to see much of the field and its not like I have much hope in him at this point anyway so now my question is should I drop him and call up
http://brokenbat.org/player/266367Yang (just drafted from Korea)

Muller
Right now or let them stay in the minors still

Also any thoughts for Walton http://brokenbat.org/player/249944

Idk about him for real, part of me thinks he can develop nice tools eventually but there is little to no innings for him and even then he stamina is so low i dont know how much value he has

Missile doesn't have a lot of time in AAA, but he does have the recommendation. I'm still trying to figure out the new system. End of the day, he should be safe to bring up. But if you aren't getting him playing time, he might do better developing in AAA for a few more weeks.

Probably the same story with Yang. Should be ok to bring those guys up if you think you will use them. If they are just going to sit the bench, they may gain more in AAA right now.

EDIT: I somehow missed Walton's minor league numbers. His Cos and Control growth rates are fantastic. So on paper he should have very high CoS, Movement, and Control. That should be an equation for a great reliever. However, his minor league numbers were rather disappointing. One upside is that he gave up a lot of HRs, but his Velocity is pretty much done developing. So he might start to give up fewer HRs as his other skills outpace his Velocity. He should have great tools, but his minor league HRA and H/IP are discouraging. If he is overrated (as I suspect he might be) by the AI, he might benefit from a little more time in the minors. If the AI is overrating him, it may be recommending him for promotions too soon. Maybe he could pull it all together with a bit more time in AAA.
