If Ōta doesn't have a spot on your roster, I would cut him. He isn't going to improve any more. He is what he is.

Any 25 year olds should either be in AAA or cut. Herrera is a borderline guy. Might have some utility in the future. But if you want to keep him, I would put him in AAA soon. Really he is unlikely to reach his potential given his age and minor league progress.

Look through your pitchers to see if there are guys who frequently give up a lot of HRs, or consistantly have poor WHIPs. Those are good candidate for upgrades off the waivers.

Look for hitters who consitantly hit for low OPS and/or OBP.

You have a lot of OF/1Bs. Probably worth trimming a few.

You could use depth at 2B, SS and 3B. Ōta might be able to help out in the short term in this role, but he doesn't have a great build for any of those positions. I'd look for some 25/26 year old prospects on waivers with good defensive builds and a positive hitting comment.

Yamazaki isn't an infielder. He has a 1B build, but probably isn't going to do more than DH (if he can hit). His high GB/FB means he will probably never have much power. Likely a good cut option.

Spangler is past his prime, and not a very good backup 3b, probably a good cut option.

Foster doesn't look like a good hitter. I'd cut him.

Katō is a poor hitter, and doesn't really have the Arm to play Catcher. He is good at hitting HRs, so he is a borderline guy (OPS over .700 at least). I would still look to upgrade as soon as possible. You need to have 2 or 3 catchers on the squad because catchers get a lot of fatigue injuries.

I'd take a close look at anyone over 32. If they were already borderline producers, and they took a hit this off season (red arrows), I'd consider cutting them.

Here's a few things to look for when assigning positions as related to range

Great Range- SS,CF
Good Range- 2B,RF
Decent Range- LF,3B
Great Arm- C
All Offense- 1B(fielding is nice)

I don't think fielding is important for 1B, and personally I don't consider Range more important in RF than in LF (only Arm). But everyone has different theories on these.
